Become a champion for our Black Babies and Black Mamas by supporting policies that support Healthy Beginnings, Strong Families, Quality Care, and Learning. Healthcare systems in the U.S. are failing birthing people and postpartum parents, often due to systematic racial inequities that begin long before a person becomes pregnant. Moreover, the well-being of birthing people and babies is often considered separately, but they are intrinsically interdependent. Poor outcomes for the birthing person result in poor outcomes in the short and long term for their baby. Are you ready to become a #blackmaternalhealth advocate? We focus on health systems strengthening, research, advocacy, and clinical trials to improve reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health.
Establishing support systems for mitigating the challenges faced by pregnant adolescents is critical. Ensure they access healthcare, receive emotional support, and return to class. Community and family involvement plays a significant role in breaking down barriers. #CEBA #PHC #RMNCAH+N

Director, Child Safeguarding and Cultural Safety at the Social Services Regulator Working on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation
#disabilityawareness #downsyndrome I’ve been working in the disability sector for 40yrs and the issue of parents of children with Down Syndrome (or often disability in general) being pressured by medical professionals to abort or give up their child has been an issue the entire time. (Another variation is doctors making decisions not to actively treat people with a disability in the same way they would anyone else because of perceptions about the ‘poor quality of life’ people with a disability have.) https://lnkd.in/gtuX-Fbi I can’t believe that we still haven’t managed to include in the training for doctors: a) that people with disability can actually lead meaningful, rewarding lives that add value to those around them; and b) how to constructively support parents to navigate what can be a difficult time in their lives as they learn to navigate how best to support their new child. We need to do better.

🌟 As we embark on #BlackMaternalHealthWeek, it's imperative to shine a brighter spotlight on the critical issues surrounding maternal healthcare for black mothers. While progress has been made, sobering statistics persist, revealing stark disparities that demand urgent attention and action. Black mothers continue to face alarmingly higher rates of maternal mortality compared to their white counterparts, despite advancements in medical technology and healthcare practices. This unsettling reality underscores systemic inequalities deeply ingrained within the healthcare system, ranging from racial bias to inadequate access to quality prenatal and postnatal care. This week, let's amplify the voices of black mothers, uplift their stories, and work collaboratively to dismantle systemic barriers to maternal healthcare access. Together, we can create a future where every black mother has the opportunity to navigate pregnancy and childbirth with dignity, safety, and optimal health outcomes. #BMHW24 #MaternalHealthEquity 🤰🏿👶🏿💖

Health equity isn’t just a goal for Mahmee—it’s in our DNA. We believe every family deserves access to trusted, compassionate care, and we’re committed to being that ally. Mahmee is on a mission to make the U.S. the best place in the world to give birth. But we know we can’t achieve this without addressing the disparities that Black mothers face. Our services speak to our solution: prenatal and beside doula support and remote blood pressure monitoring by registered nurses. Our data speaks to our impact: Mahmee’s patients are beating the national odds with lower rates of cesarean deliveries and preterm births. Together, we’re making strides toward a future where every family, regardless of race or background, has the support they need to thrive. 💙 Let’s keep pushing for meaningful change. #HealthEquity #BlackMaternalHealth #MahmeeImpact #BetterBirthOutcomes #MaternalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #BirthJustice #CompassionateCare #ClinicalOutcomes #ReducingDisparities #EveryFamilyDeservesCare
