It doesn’t have to play out like 11/04/2020. We CAN prepare ahead of 11/06 for how we talk with our students in the event that we are not sure of election outcomes (or in the event that outcomes are being called into question). Students Learn Students Vote Coalition and Ask Every Student’s 2024 Post-Election Campus Resource and Response Guide is a valuable starting point. https://lnkd.in/gVxhgC2S

Well, the results are in: Shalhevet High School's student news publication, The Boiling Point, conducted its own election poll on Election Day, and as the nation goes, so goes Shalhevet. Among those who responded to the Googleform survey, with students supporting Trump by an overwhelming majority while the staff favored Harris. The editors also asked some interesting questions about what students' top issues are in considering the candidates and whether or not they were voting for the same candidate that their parents favored. Read all about it in the Boiling Point! https://lnkd.in/gybRBBhw

We are now 3.5 days past the election and the state of California, while clearly in the bag for Harris, has counted only 63% of its precincts. OK, sure, California is big. Well, in population only. It's considerably smaller than Texas and Alaska. And they do have electricity in California, telephones, internet, all the things that transmit information. California no doubt has more precincts but also more poll workers and a higher budget for elections. What California has that Texas and Alaska don't have is incompetent government. I don't put this completely on Newsome. It is the job of the Secretary of State to run elections. The SOS is not a Newsome-appointee. The SOS runs for office. The current one has been elected several times since 2012 with high percentages of the vote. Shirley N. Weber, PhD. (UCLA) Do your job. This isn't red or blue. It is about doing your job. And you people of California, hold her accountable.
