Let’s go! 🏛️💚👏 Today’s historic $20B GGRF announcement marks a significant milestone in our mission to scale climate technologies in a way that puts people first. With this once-in-a-generation, catalytic financing program, America is investing in itself in a big way — by accelerating climate solutions that deliver deep community impact and mobilizing much-needed funding to fill the scale gap. We are beyond energized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s announcement that it will award $20B of the $27B GGRF program to our partners and collaborators at the Coalition for Green Capital, Climate United, Justice Climate Fund and Power Forward Communities. Our team has spent the last year working day-in and day-out with these partners to design and build a strategy that centers innovation and equity, with solutions that reduce emissions, build economic opportunity and support healthy neighborhoods. When we started Elemental over 14 years ago, we couldn’t have imagined we would be building for this kind of moment, with this kind of impact. This is a big deal. Finance is the lifeblood of development, and this is going to help build a lot of charging infrastructure and deploy a lot of electric trucks. As Matt LeDucq says in the press release: "Forum Mobility looks forward to putting GGRF funds to work on projects that benefit the communities and the fleets making the transition to zero emission. Through our work with Elemental Excelerator, these funds will rapidly accelerate infrastructure, affordability and the cleaning of the air in our communities. Across the U.S., more than 39 million people are exposed to hazardous diesel pollution near ports, disproportionately low-income residents. We plan to deliver qualified projects that electrify transportation in these areas, including zero-emission drayage truck deployment and charging depot construction." Climate solutions are within reach, yet the finance to bring them to life remains elusive and not nearly enough. There is a clear and urgent need for climate finance to be on everyone's top agenda.
