Reflecting on my time working for this command, it has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my career. I remember reporting to the unit as a senior CW2, expecting to backfill a senior CW3, only to discover that I was filling the shoes of a seasoned CW5 who had been there for over 10 years. Adding to the complexity, I found myself in a leadership role responsible for leading 4 GS12s (including my former company commander) and 3 Senior NCOs. Leadership roles for warrants are rare in the Army, with warrants typically serving as subject matter experts. I recall a discussion with my boss six months into the job, expressing my struggles to understand the complexities of the role, gain the trust of my subordinates, and feel successful as the Branch Chief. Despite my concerns, my boss reassured me that I was doing a phenomenal job and that it's normal to feel overwhelmed initially. This response, although comforting, left me feeling confused, as I'm usually a quick learner. The purpose of this post is to share how being placed in challenging positions forced me to adapt, problem-solve, and develop resilience. It provided opportunities for growth, learning, and gaining valuable experience, ultimately strengthening my leadership skills and capabilities. Additionally, overcoming challenges built my confidence which ultimately gained my teams trust. What is your most challenging job and what have you learned from that experience?

Earlier this year I submitted an idea to the Department of Defense's Talent Management Ground Up Innovation Challenge. My idea wasn't directly tied to Talent Management, but it touched on so many things that impacts all of usattempting to work in a joint environment while still navigating service policies and organizations. They just announced an extension till Mid December to determine who the semi-finalists are, which get to brief a panel of SME's virtually in January. I am still in the running. My submission is attached, let me know what you think. Its Disruptive and Its a lot to digest for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order effects. ******************************************************** Idea Title: Joint Force 2.0   Idea Description: Disruptive approach to enabling a unified DoD Framework that focuses on reducing administrative distractions, providing continuity of services to displaced service members conducting operational/mission support to the Joint Combatant Commanders and warfighting missions, and ensure maximum readiness and availability of resources to service members and families regardless of which service owns the installation the service members are assigned to.
