Yesterday was a great day at the National Association of State Technology Directors (NASTD) Annual Conference in Minneapolis! Julie Arp, NDIT's Business Analyst Manager, led the Women in IT panel, sparking an important conversation on how diversity leads to better decision-making and why having strong allies really matters in tech. She was joined by an incredible group of panelists: Karen Robinson, CEO & Founder of KWR Strategies; Deanna Poe, IT Supervisor, State of Nebraska; Lisa Whisman, Director of End User Services, State of Delaware; and Mary McGinnis, Director of Business Operations Support Services, State of Michigan. Great to see such meaningful discussions happening in the industry. #NASTDAnnual #WomenInTech, #TechLeadership, #NASTD2024

There I stood six months ago on the terrace of the United Nations, the vast New York skyline behind me, holding the #SDGdigital sign - a symbol of Audiopedia Foundation's promise and global recognition at the SDG Digital Event. But in truth, it wasn't just a highlight - it was a call to action, a reminder that our mission is far from complete. With every recognition, we've seen more clearly the road ahead, and it is vast. The accolades and acknowledgments have been uplifting, yet they've also brought into sharp relief the scale of the task before us. We need more than just words of support; we need action, commitment, and tangible resources. We stand ready to transform goodwill into global good, to turn the promise of digital empowerment into a lived reality for women worldwide. Now, as we embark on the next chapter of our story, we seek bold partners and visionary supporters to join us in this mission. Together, let's create a legacy of learning, empowerment, and equality that endures. Because yes, we've come far, but there's so much further we can go — with you by our side. Our journey continues, and the path is paved with partnerships. If you're inspired by our mission and ready to act, I want to hear from you. Let's explore together how we can empower women everywhere with Audiopedia. Reach out to me, and let’s make history. #SDG5 #DigitalEmpowerment #PartnershipsForChange

Throughout history, women have continuously proven their prowess in innovation and creativity, breaking barriers and reshaping industries with their groundbreaking inventions. From household essentials to cutting-edge technologies, their contributions have left an indelible mark on society. From the pioneering work of Hedy Lamarr in developing frequency hopping spread spectrum technology, a precursor to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, to the revolutionary medical advancements by Dr. Patricia Bath with the invention of the Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment, women have consistently demonstrated their ability to think outside the box and drive progress forward. But it doesn't stop there. Women inventors have enriched our lives in countless ways, from everyday conveniences like the dishwasher (thanks to Josephine Cochran) to life-saving innovations such as the fire escape by Anna Connelly. Their ingenuity knows no bounds, and their diverse perspectives bring forth solutions that cater to the needs of all. As we celebrate Women's History Month, let's recognize and amplify the voices of these remarkable innovators, and continue to champion diversity and inclusion in the realm of invention. #WomenInInnovation #Inventors #DiversityInTech #WomensHistoryMonth #IWD24

I've already highlighted WIFM on my page, but wanted to share this recap video from their conference earlier this year. I highly recommend this organization for recent graduates looking for a job in financial markets or starting their career and in need of mentorship. (For my Theta girls, let me know if you're looking!)
Check out the highlights from our inaugural WIFM conference on February 29 in New York City. The day was filled with inspiring moments and networking opportunities. "These women were outspoken, strong, senior and they really cared about what they were doing and being here." – Nicole Cammaert "I look for big visions, visions that I can relate with, people who I think I can learn from, and a sense that I can make a difference." – Kirthiga Reddy "I don't think I gave myself the license to give up..." – Anu Aiyengar "Today was really great for me as a young professional, as a reminder that it's not just me out there doing it on my own, that there are other women I can look up to and connect with. They've done it. So, it's motivating and it's a good reminder that I can do it too." – Ellie Sipe #WIFM #connect #elevate #advance

Founder, Consultant, Interim Leader | Executive Member, Women in STEM Leadership (WISL) | Women's Numeracy & STEM Advocate 💡 Part-time lecturer | Podcast host 🎙 | Follow for insights & resources 🧐
Important topic. One I talk about regularly. These stats on the gaps in STEM careers are just the symptom. Women’s innumeracy and math anxiety (look it up, it’s a real thing - insecurity borne out of years of social conditioning where girls and women have been conditioned to value being “nice” over being competitive (and competent) especially with numbers or engineering problems) ….women’s innumeracy is creating immeasurable gaps in career options, earnings potential, innovation advancements, personal financial wealth and lost GDP This is a timely post and #womeninSTEM event for those in the DC area. Thanks Andrea Mohamed.
