NDYLIGHT, in collaboration with Cox Architecture and Charter Hall, crafted a lighting design that breathes life into the expansive 2 floor main foyer at 555 Collins Street in Melbourne. The lighting elegantly cascades down the connecting stairway from the mezzanine to the lower ground, creating a luminous path that leads to bike storage and end-of-trip facilities. This illumination continues, enhancing the level amenities and elevator lobbies with a soft, inviting glow. We also designed a stunning integrated facade lighting solution that accentuates the architectural beauty of the podium’s glass reinforced concrete (GRC) facade, showcasing a play on light and design innovation. #MakingSpacesWork NDY | Tetra Tech High Performance Buildings Group | Cosentini Associates | Glumac | Hoare Lea

The Human Side of Retrofitting: Building Connections as We Build the Future. Retrofitting isn’t just a technical challenge—it’s a deeply human one. Every project is a story of collaboration, creativity, and community. Whether it’s working with local craftspeople to restore a historic facade or engaging with residents to ensure their needs are met in a modern upgrade, retrofitting is about people as much as it is about buildings. In the UK, where our architectural heritage is so closely tied to our identity, retrofitting offers a way to honor the past while meeting the demands of the future. It’s about more than energy savings and efficiency—it's about preserving the soul of a building while making it liveable and lovable for generations to come. Retrofitting is where the past and future shake hands. And that handshake? It’s full of stories, innovation, and, most importantly, people.
