Introducing Felim Donnelly, Founder & CEO of Crossplay Digital Inc. Felim is born and raised in the lower mainland, plays in multiple ball hockey leagues, and picks up as many games as he can find although that has of course dwindled somewhat since becoming a founder! He told us: “ I really value my playing time because the exertion and intensity of being immersed in a fast-paced sport requires that I be truly 'present' when I'm playing, since most of the rest of the time I'm thinking about my startup, even when I'm not trying to! It's really important to find balance and a release for the demands of being a founder.” Felim recognizes the importance of keeping the long view in mind, “It's easy to get wrapped up in the urgency of moving quickly and making decisions day-to-day, but it's equally important to think regularly about where you want to be in six or twelve months - it helps to ground your decisions and smooth out the little day-to-day bumps in the road. Even if you end up somewhere totally different than where you thought once you get there!” Thanks Felim for pitching at one of our Forums in Vancouver this season! #VanTech #techcommunity #vancouverTech #investmentsummit #VentureCapital #PitchCompetition #Technology #Innovation #AngelInvesting #Tech #Investment #Canada #startup #BCTech #vancouver #vtj #vancouvertech #yvr #cdntech #vancity #squamishlife #squamishbusiness #downtownsquamish #squamishbusinessnetwork #victoriabc #Victoriabusiness #victoriastartup

I help Underdogs and Misfits build brands that Slap! (Academy Graduates, Veterans, and anyone used to being one of one.) No Ivy League degree or Unicorn startup glow required.
Your boy is heading back to San Francisco next month for the 3rd Annual Military Veteran Startup Conference hosted by Context VC. The event is taking place February 8-9, 2024 at the Marines Memorial Club and Hotel in Downtown, SF. It's been an honor and privilege to have a front-row seat watching Tim Hsia, Brendan Aronson, and their amazing team (Helen King & Carina Cho) create the premier event for Milvet Startups. I liken it to the Army-Navy Game or the Brigade Boxing Championships, where I know everyone will be in the same room at the same time each year. No other event gathers our diverse community this way. Deals happen between founders and VCs, partnerships form, and hiring takes place. Although I don't run a venture-backed startup myself, I do my best to pass on any and all information about the startup ecosystem through my podcast platforms and written content. This year, I have the privilege of moderating the panel “Lean Startups, Bootstrapping, and Distribution,” featuring Sahil Lavingia, Founder of Gumroad and author of 'The Minimalist Entrepreneur: How Great Founders Do More with Less" 'The Minimalist Entrepreneur' is my go-to recommendation for first-time founders. I've read it at least five times and used its principles to launch and grow IRONBOUND Boxing, IRONBOUND Media. and Flawless Acceleration. As a proud bootstrapper well-versed in the indie space, I'm excited for Milvet and can't wait to see you all there. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, you can still do so at https://lnkd.in/drfT9aQ5 Be out or be talked about! #LiftAsWeClimb cc ⚡ Tom Davin, the Co-CEO of Black Rifle Coffee Company ⚡ Kevin Mandia, the founder of Mandiant (now part of Google Cloud) & Ballistic Ventures ⚡ David Hornik of Lobby Capital ⚡ Jake Wood of Groundswell ⚡Liza Rodewald of Instant Teams ⚡ Henry Ward of Carta ⚡ Sarah McBride of Bloomberg ⚡ Lior Susan of Eclipse ⚡ Paul Madera of Meritech Capital ▶ Jim Stallings of PS27 Ventures (My Hero) ▶ Paul Kwan of General Catalyst ▶ Timothy Young of Eniac Ventures

soonami Venturethon exists to help make your hackathon project a venture🚀 Out in the real world, with consumers and generating value or revenue, or both! 😀 One of our tracks in the Venutrehton is EIR or Entrepreneur in Residence where we bring on one project with two co-founders in the web3 or or AI or gaming space, and give them three months to build their MVP and make a pitch to IC (Investment Committee) From our March edition, the project - The Human Orchestral Body caught our interest.🎼 Rishi and Allid Ferrow are the two talented founders and here's Allid's story in his own words: "Originating from the open landscapes of Sweden, my passion for entrepreneurship has always been intertwined with a commitment to making a significant impact in health. My global journey, enriched by diverse roles and invaluable experiences, ultimately guided me to Germany—a move inspired by love. Germany has now become the birthplace of our new venture: "The Orchestral Human Body", where my co-founder and I unite our visions. Together, we're dedicated to blending the worlds of health, music, and artificial intelligence, in new innovative ways." - Allid Ferrow You can be part of EIR too, apply on our platform partner Foundance. Why Good Teams Can Succeed with Bad Products (and Vice Versa) Key Points: Product ≠ Success: A common misconception is that a brilliant product guarantees success. But here’s the twist: it’s the team behind the product that truly matters. The Tug of War vs. Rowing Team: Imagine a tug of war contest—everyone pulling in different directions, yet going nowhere. Now picture a synchronized rowing team gliding toward victory. Startups need rowing teams, not tug of war matches. Ever wondered why some startups soar while others crash?
