Here's is a small list of dishes required to supplement the main shots. Also, we're planning sunrise shots, so the cab will reach at 4.30 am to pick you." AD briefed the tvc on phone call. . . After a quiet early morning city ride, I reached the actively buzzing shooting spot at 5.15 am only to see the assistant director rushing towards me, with a mike in one hand and story board in another. "Mam, we need some more dishes. A rich vegetable gravy for still shots, sambhar, vatha kulumbhu, plain rice, potato fry and, 3 different chutneys for TVC action shots." He read out the new storyboard in one breath and looked up, waiting for me to react. Like many other television shoots, the storyboard shifted gears this time too. Procuring special ingredients at a remote place, and prepping & styling within the stipulated time, proved a daunting challenge. How did i execute it? . Well, that's the hard-earned secret I learned by making mistakes, rinsing and repeating them, during 100s of television commercial shoots over 20 years in industry. . The magic formula? 3 Ps; Plan, Prepare and, never Panic. . . Isn't our life all about that too? We encounter countless challenges in life. While we may not be able to control what happens to us, we can always control how we respond to it, by not giving in to panic. As the saying goes, "Life is 10% of what you experience and 90% how you respond to it." . .
