I want to like this. I also believe this is a very strong step towards having strong leaders supporting collegiate esports. That being said the lack of diversity in this picture is bleeding my eyes. Don't want to rain on anybody's parade and look down on positive developments but we deserve so much more than this carbon copy situation in esports leadership positions. ◾ ◾ ◾ #diversity #inclusion #esports #collegiate #advisoryboard #dei

Connecting Brands to Gamers | Profound Expertise in Esports Business, Player, Organization, and Influencer Marketing | Former World Champion General Manager for eUnited & Professional Call of Duty Player
This needs more attention. Orchestrating collegiate executives to help spearhead esports discussions is no easy feat. Whether it's two executives collaborating or ten, we should be thankful large collegiate universities are discussing ways to elevate their sector in the industry. I still foresee more professional players being recruited to prominent Universities over the next three to five years. Professional players who don't have the skillset to transfer to operations, business, marketing, sales, etc., can return to school and get a degree while continuing to lean on their competitive passions. I also anticipate more sponsorship dollars to migrate to collegiate esport programs as they field talent that can push more viewership, storylines, and intertwine the community focus most schools are already enriched with.

July was slower than normal due to the summer holidays. Didn’t stop us making further progress. Nativz Esports Club finished the NLC 1st Div in 6th place, securing our spot for 2025. Ireland Collegiate Alumni Guild went live (https://lnkd.in/eTGki7Fu) as did the new Nativz Business Hub (business.nativzgaming.com). 🗞️ 𝕀𝕟 𝔽𝕠𝕔𝕦𝕤 Game On is how RTE opened their culture piece focused on #esports and the #Olympics, we offered some insights to help shape this one. By all accounts the inaugural #EsportsWorldCup is a phenomenal spectacle. It’s created a great formula to build on. Especially as the International Olympic Committee – IOC gave #SaudiArabia the rights for the next 12 years, concluding a year before the first realistic opportunity to take esports into a Summer Olympics. There are a number of hurdles to navigate ahead before next year. Most importantly, what game titles will be selected? A decision the existing esports community will watch with interest. Other considerations are needed around the state of readiness in local esports ecosystems. Industry is typically led by private sector business, what’s the government view on investment? Do the mandates of public sector entities such as Sport Ireland/Ireland Olympic Committee need adjusting? That’s just a taste of the conversations to come. The opportunity for innovation excites us. 🙌🏼 𝕊𝕦𝕔𝕔𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕖𝕤 🚀 Ireland Collegiate Alumni Guild launch featured our new podcast. Today at Generation Esports: our new head-to-head tiebreaking system! For the past couple of seasons we've received a lot of feedback from participants that our system for handling head-to-head tiebreaking was confusing and sometimes controversial, especially in cyclical head-to-head tiebreaking scenarios (e.g. Team A defeated Team B who defeated Team C who defeated Team A). Now, head-to-head tiebreaking will be handled in buckets defined by a participant's win-loss record. From there the head-to-head is run against other members of your bucket instead of your immediate leaderboard neighbors. Further ties will be handled by our existing leaderboard tiebreakers. This solves the case of cyclical head-to-head scenarios and also provides a more accurate team ranking. Internally we've coined this system as "Nonogrammatic Head-To-Head" because of how the validation of this new process by hand kind of looks like a Picross board. To see it in action, we took a look at what previous tournaments might look like with the new system in place. Below is an example from the HSEL Fall 2022 Valorant Major East Division on the teams with a 5-3 record at the end of the regular season. As you can see, the impact is quite large. One team in this example went up 5 places, while another went down 6! This new tiebreaking system goes into effect TODAY for the HSEL Winter and Spring seasons (check out those events at https://hsel.gg). Completed events will still be held to their finalized standings. Shoutout to Brennan Wright for hand-validating the algorithm and to both Beau Hughes and David Stone for their input on the new system. Bonus: We fixed an issue that was causing the leaderboard placement numbers to display incorrectly if there was a team that was removed from the tournament on the leaderboard, which is why the numbers are different in this image.

In previous posts, I've highlighted the importance of integrity within the esports. Today, we face yet another challenge that threatens this integrity—cheating, which is now impacting CS:GO 2. Recent developments have revealed that IKLA, an esports organization, has decided to cease operations and stop investing in their CS:GO 2 team until further notice. This drastic measure has been attributed to the widespread issue of cheating, particularly in online qualifiers, which has cast doubt on the security of their investments and the fairness of the competition. This situation is a serious concern for all stakeholders. It underscores the need for effective anti-cheat mechanisms—although a complex solution, it's essential. Ensuring a level playing field is not just about fairness but also about preserving the passion that binds fans, players, and organizations to esports. Without stringent regulations and rules, companies risk losing not only financial backing but also the confidence of organizations, fans, and players. It's important that each game title, especially ones as influential as CS:GO 2, implements standards to combat cheating. I believe that only collective efforts towards this can safeguard the future of esports and maintain the respect it deserves. #esportsnews #csgo2 #fairplay #cheating #esports #integrity #videogameindustry #videogames
