Safety should always be our top priority, especially when it comes to on-road biking. Did you know that protected bike lane designs are preferred by most for their safety measures? While it may not be possible to build a trail or side path everywhere, a protected bike lane can provide a safe and reliable option for riders of all ages and abilities. Let's prioritize safety and advocate for protected bike lanes in our communities.

Keep in mind that this is only talking about BICYCLIST fatalities, pedestrian deaths are up drastically, too. Cars & trucks keep getting bigger, drivers are more distracted and disconnected from their surroundings than ever, take the initiative to be the example of safe driving. At stop signs and lights: look left to the sidewalk, curb, each lane (bike and general traffic), continuing straight across, and to your right, then do it again to get back to the sidewalk to your left. It take less than 3 seconds and will give you a full picture of what traffic is around so you may proceed safely. Also remember not to block the crosswalk, stop for pedestrians, head right of way to the more vulnerable road users. Take the extra second to spare a life, your time is not more important.

The Route Planner, available from the website, creates routes by prioritizing the most popular stretches of trails from other community members. Using it is very simple: you just have to select a starting place and the activity for which you want to plan the route (hiking, mountain biking, or road biking), and then start designing the itinerary directly on the map by selecting the desired waypoints.
