A $10k/month engineer can’t have $100/month of tooling? That’s just mathematically illiterate. An organisation’s employees are another set of users, not just your customers and partners. Treat them accordingly, with a “product manager” and backlog for employee experience. There is a well understood correlation between happy employees, productivity and how customers are supported.

It's unbelievable that a significant investment can go into hiring top-of-the-line engineers, only to have their efficiency compromised due to subpar equipment, tools, and overall practices.
