Here's to raising a glass filled with water or tang maybe! because, I don't drink. I don't smoke. and now, most of you might think of me as boring or somebody who doesn't know how to enjoy weekends. It's easy to assume that everybody would succumb to these allures as if it's a foregone conclusion and those who don't, 'dont know how to enjoy life'. and you're no exception if you think so. When I tell anybody that I don't drink and smoke, it feels like I'm swimming against the current. I mean, sure, we've all seen those movies where the 'cool' kids are puffing away and chugging drinks like there's no tomorrow. But let's be real, that's just Hollywood trying to sell us a fantasy. In the real world, smoking can mess up your lungs and drinking beyond moderation can mess up, well, pretty much everything. I was told countless times both when I got into college and corporate that I'll start stuff after I get in there, that's how you do networking in after parties, right? I get it, peer pressure is real. We all want to fit in and be seen as cool, and you gotta light up or throw back shots for that!? But it's high time we accept and respect diverse beverage choices and not think of people as boring or uncool if they don't drink or smoke because fun is not just waking up with pounding headache or coughing up a lung, it's epic adventures with friends, vibing to sick beats, exploring new places, pursuing passions and whatnot, it has a different definition for everyone. I don't need any external substance to get high! We must not let others control our definition of enjoyment, also, we must respect others definition of enjoyment as well. As far as you love whatever you do, you are enjoying life! :) #linkedincontent #engagement #linkedinengagement #linkedincreators #linkedincommunity #linkedininsights #linkedindaily
Haha, cheers to our fancy water toasts, Neha! 🥂 Who knew the craziest parties I'd attend would be hydration celebrations? Your post is a breath of fresh air in a smoky room of societal expectations. 🌬️ It's so refreshing to see someone redefine fun on their own terms. Do you think blending psychology into business has similar stigmas to break?
Exactly, being cool doesn't mean you'll have to follow what the majority is doing.
On point Neha Lohia
I'll choose to stand alone :)
Can totally relate to this. 💯
I completely agree with you! It's important to respect everyone's choices, whether it's their beverage preference or how they choose to have fun. Real enjoyment comes from living life on your own terms, pursuing your passions and creating memories with loved ones. Cheers to that! 🥂
Amazingly articulated! The experience is so real, encountering judgements from other people in regard to not smoking and drinking alcohol has sometimes forced us to think of acting cool but ultimately you don't do what you don't like just for the sake of socializing! Neha Lohia
Cheers to that! It's refreshing to see someone embrace their own choices without feeling pressured to conform. Fun comes in many forms, and it's all about finding what brings you joy. Here's to living life on your own terms! 🥂
