One day, I'll travel the world. I'll go from country to country, city to city, town to town. In each place, I'll drink coffee until I find the best cafe, eat food until I find the best restaurant, and exercise until I find the best gym (and to burn off all that coffee and food). I'll find the owners of the best independent business in each category and say to them: "You've got the best [cafe] in New York. Let me package and licence your systems. You're probably never going to open a cafe in Florida. So I'll never compete with you. But let's team up and you can share in the profit of every new cafe without any extra work, investment, or risk on your part." Then I'll keep moving, and in each place I'll find people who want to open their own cafe, their own restaurant, their own gym, or whatever... and I'll say to them: "Rather than spending $200,000 on a Starbucks franchise, spend $20,000 to get set up, and I'll give you the system behind the most successful cafe in New York. It's never been done here before. It's far more likely to succeed – and it'll be much quicker and easier – than building from scratch." The owner of the existing cafe, restaurant, gym, etc., will get to multiply the yield of the asset they've invested so much in building. The owner of the new business will minimise their downside and maximise their upside potential. I'll be like a kid in a candy shop travelling the world, finding opportunities, and putting deals together. Pipedream? Maybe. But I'm not sharing this weird ambition with you to announce that I'm leaving my job to travel the world. I'm sharing the idea because you can apply a similar approach in healthcare (and any other industry) to improve quality, increase income, and reduce costs. Here's what I mean. In the example above, there's an underutilised asset: a successful business that's only serving a fraction of the market that it could. An underutilised asset could also be space, equipment, a skill, a poor process, a good process, etc. A simple healthcare example: a room in the medical imaging department full of old equipment. The room can't be used. The equipment isn't producing any income. There's also a host: the owner of the underutilised asset. The owner of the cafe. Or in the imaging example, the host/owner is the department and organisation. There's a beneficiary. Whoever replicates the successful cafe. Or whoever gets the equipment or the room in medical imaging. And finally, there's someone to put the jigsaw together. In the cafe example, it's the wandering deal-maker. In healthcare, it could be anyone who finds a way to utilise the room and equipment. I'm convinced that there's an endless number of underutilised assets in the NHS. Anyone can find them, increase their yield, and improve services for patients and staff - for very little investment of time, energy, or capital. It may not be as glam' as sipping coffee in Rio... ... but it's pretty damn exciting if you ask me.

| customer service expert| Hospitality Digital marketer I help hospitality professionals learn how offer outstanding service experience | Give tips to hoteliers on how to thrive and grow at work |
Now what? I started working in hospitality in 2017 and after 3 years I started looking into options for career growth but unfortunately I couldn’t get the right guidance. It took me a lot of research and time to finally figure out things myself. Because to be honest you can’t be a waiter or receptionists until you are 40 years!🌚 And yet still we all can’t be managers, supervisors these positions are always few in establishments. Here are some of the careers you can grow into as a hospitality professional. 1️⃣ consultancy. You can work for or create a firm that gives expert advice in hospitality, after being hands on and having the necessary experience, add a consultancy course and research. You are in a better position to professionally advice, lay strategies and more. 2️⃣ Events management. There are a number of options like wedding planners, events manager and more. All people that work in food and beverage service have the potential to elevate to this. The banqueting, planning, organizing that goes on in the department equips you. Do research and get a mentor and you are ready to serve but in a bigger space. 3️⃣ Management. This includes managers, accountants, cost controllers, supervisors. I know all of us can’t be leaders at the same time but if this is your goal, then the earlier you start preparing for positions like this the better. 4️⃣ Entrepreneurship. Hospitality courses are also a breeding ground for entrepreneurs because it strengthens the essential hard and soft skills. Business options like outside catering , chinaware and crockery shops, ushering agents, free lancer chefs and more. 5️⃣ sales and marketing. If you have been at the front of the house and you are good at your job. In considering growth this might be the best option and there’s no way you can fail at it. 6️⃣ Tourism. Since in hospitality you closely work with tourism. You get a chance to interact, learn and equip yourself with the necessary information. And if you are intentional about it options like tour agencies and guides. I have seen people who took this route and turned out great. 7️⃣ Education. There’s nothing great like passing on knowledge with an actual experience, My instructors used the same tactic and I loved to listen to their experience in stories. This has options of teaching secondary home economics, instructing in institutions and lecturing in universities. Get the necessary papers and go do the lord’s work. 8️⃣ Digital marketing. We need more professional hoteliers in this industry. Because imagine content creation in cooking by a professional chef! Social media management of a restaurant page by a former waiter who has product knowledge or marketing hotel facilities by a former receptionists who knows how to sell the amenities. Imagine the content we will be consuming! There are so many possibilities the list is endless. It’s up to you to figure out what you want to focus on. #careerguidance #hospitality

Hospitality is an essential skill that makes all the difference when servicing guests who stay at a hotel, resort, bed & breakfast, campground, at a restaurant etc. When the goal is to service the guest , you get quite a bit of information from them as they inquire about the service being provided. When someone takes the time to hear the guest, it is important to meet the guest expectations and note why its important to always to listen first and speak second when it comes to providing memorable hospitality for all guests that come to a property. While I put forth a great understanding and help contribute to a guest service mission I find that time very rewarding to say the least. With that said now, as I continue the transition of one day owning a hospitality company, providing award winning hospitality is on the forefront of making sure that guests feel welcomed and put as priority when on the property. There is so much that goes into a new business especially hospitality but as I continue to build on the journey by far one of the best things that I continue to note on the journey is when you have a memorable service, that in turn makes all the difference. No business is perfect, but I have continued to understand to discovering the main purpose, to live the dream by making it a reality through hard work. I have now discovered in this hospitality journey that I have been making the time memorable by doing what is important for each new business day and to help grow new business for the business. As each new day begins, I am always seeking new ways for the business to reach its mark and to help the team carry out its functions. When doing the little things in business, they go further to help the business flourish. As I take ownership on the assignment that I am given, I find ways to keep helping reach its mark. With new business, I continue the motto of New Beginnings & New Hope to discover more of how to make the business stand stronger and to make a difference in the right areas, write some memorable moments, and build on for a better tomorrow that will help the business flourish in the right context. For now and the days ahead, to the guests I have met, your stories will last forever, as I continue on these trails now towards creating more special moments they are jotted down for safe keeping and I couldn't be happier knowing that we had sometime together! I am truly blessed for these moments, these are so indeed very special!

Selkie - Bespoke Tours, Travel Concierge, Safe Adventure & Wild Experiences, Wedding Services , Elopement Ceremonies
Those who know me well know I've never been a sheep 🐑. I've always been quite difficult to manage when I didn't agree with people upstairs making bad decisions. This was probably to the detriment during my corporate hotel career, because I stood up for myself, lived by my values, put my people first and upheld my high standards of service. I always did the right thing for my guests and team, not the thing I was always told, especially if it didn't fit with what I believed to be right. I've always been passionate and thoughtful when it comes to service delivery and people. I take a view that it's the number 1 priority in every hospitality business. That shouldn't be a surprise but sadly in my experience, it's becoming less evident in the Industry I love. The customer experience seems to take a back seat. I remember once being told to stop 🛑 putting complimentary bottles 🍾 of Champagne 🥂 in bridal rooms, because the director had worked out how much it cost each year in my hotel (we probably hosted about 130 weddings each year x £12 for the wine at cost) ...you get the idea 💡. He was of course looking at the bigger prize across the estate. In reality, they were trying to squeeze margins to deliver a number. His bonus was within reach that year and he was determined to get it at all costs. I wasn't interested in the people in the boardroom making dumb decisions , but I did think after spending an average of £15,000 on their wedding 💍 💒, it was the least we could do for every newly wedded couple. I ignored the directive of course 😉 and continued to deliver a chilled bottle of fizz and strawberries dipped in chocolate to every bride & groom staying in my hotels. It was the right thing to do. What's the moral of this tale ? If you believe in doing things well and have a passion for service, then follow your gut instinct. Stand up for yourself, live your own values and remember that it is easier to make profit when revenues are strong. Any business with shrinking sales will have to find margins in places you really shouldn't. Now and again you just need to accept doing the right thing should not be compromised. We are in the business of memory making after all. Now this personal belief still rings true with the way I run Selkie 🦭. I could squeeze more profitability out of each client booking which might excite investors and the bank. In reality I'd rather deliver incredible experiences and make the brand one which stands out for going the extra mile and exceeding expectations at every opportunity.

Retired Police Captain • Franchise Owner - Cruise Planners; Franchise Owner - Ellianos Coffee Company
When I started my travel franchise with Cruise Planners in 2019, I was planning to bid farewell to a fulfilling 30-year career in public safety. The transition wasn't just a career change; it was a leap into the unknown. Little did I know that shortly thereafter, the world would face an unprecedented crisis. The pandemic hit, and like many business owners, I went into panic mode. The idea that I might lose not only my investment but also my dream of a new career path was terrifying. The initial months were rough, filled with uncertainty and countless sleepless nights. However, through perseverance and the grace of God, I managed to navigate through the storm. The pandemic tested our resilience and adaptability, pushing us to innovate in ways we hadn’t imagined before. We leveraged virtual tours, remote consultations, and personalized online experiences to keep our clients engaged and optimistic about future travel despite what was happening in the world around us. Fast forward two years post-pandemic, and we have not only managed to survive but thrive! Achieving the status of a Millionaire's Club agency with Cruise Planners is more than just a financial milestone; it is a testament to our professionalism, dedication, and customer service. This elite status reassures our clients that their vacation and travel plans are being coordinated by the best in the industry, backed by our highest standards of service and client satisfaction. My journey is a vivid reminder that setbacks are often setups for even greater comebacks. The key lies in staying committed to your goals, maintaining unwavering faith, and continuously adapting to new challenges. For fellow business owners out there, remember, adversity can be a powerful catalyst for growth and innovation...but only if you listen to the lessons that adversity is trying to teach you. #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #CustomerService #Entrepreneurship

Finance Preacher - My sermon is the gospel of financial freedom and intelligence [Savings and investment] approach || Financial Analyst || Consultant || Fitness enthusiast
Mr Mk a well known tycoon in the hospitality sector (hotel; in particular). He has been having a bad year which resulted in decreased profit from the hotel he owns and manages. Mr Mk didn't think much of it, due to the economic situation and all that, so to Mr Mk any decease incurred might not exactly be significant, besides he runs other ventures and those seems to be profitable. An unexpected incident occurred. Mr Mk heard of Mr Oti, a new face in the industry; whose operation has gotten people talking and wondering where he came from. It was noted that Mr Oti’s hotel recorded; Huge profits year in year out and has been in operation for less than 7 years, which resulted to; 📍Increased lodging. 📍Short time stays and visitations. 📍Reservations, form top brass in the nation. This made Mr Mk curious as to why this had happened, as to what could have triggered such movement, the plays and strategies involved. After a long study, Mr Mk got his answers. Mr Otis hotel wasn't the best in the nation, but they was a secret “Location & Exposure”. 📍By right of Mr Otis hotel, a Petrol station could be spotted. 📍By the left side of the hotel, was a grand supermarket. 📍Right in front of the hotel, was a 4 star restaurant. 📍Proximity wise the hotel was located close to the airport, so a 10 minutes drive and one is already at the airport. 📍Proximity wise the hotel had over 5 petrol stations close to it, 3 gas plant, a mall, 3 other restaurants, 6 plazas, 2 general market, 4 churches and 2 more supermarkets. 📍The hotel was literally by the road, as such access to transportation was stress free. With all this in place Mr Mk shoke his head and was amazed by the move Mr Oti played. This write up isn't just about hotel's, when starting a business (online and physical) it's of great importance to get the right location! Why? Cause the right business location will create a vacuum of opportunities for the business. Good location = More business opportunities and ideas. That opportunity could be in form of the right target market which in turn yields profit for the business.
