🙏 OMG but he survived! You can see him moving in the bin at the end. 🙏 🚧 Ensuring Safety Around Heavy Equipment 🚧 As professionals working with heavy equipment, safety should always be our top priority. Here are some crucial tips to create a secure work environment: ✔ Training Matters: Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained to operate and work around heavy machinery. Regular training sessions can reinforce safety protocols. ✔ Visible Signage: Clearly mark areas where heavy equipment is operating. Use high-visibility signage and barricades to alert others and establish a safe perimeter. ✔ Communication is Key: Establish clear communication channels among team members and equipment operators. Use radios or signals to convey important information, especially in noisy environments. ✔ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Enforce the use of proper PPE, including hard hats, steel-toed boots, reflective vests, and ear protection, to minimize the risk of injuries. ✔ Designated Walkways: Clearly mark and maintain designated pedestrian walkways away from the path of heavy equipment. Encourage workers to use these pathways to avoid unnecessary risks. ✔ Be Aware of Blind Spots: Equip heavy equipment with safety mirrors and cameras to minimize blind spots. Operators should also be trained to be aware of their surroundings, especially when reversing. ✔ Continuous Education: Stay informed about the latest safety standards and technologies. Continuous education and training can help in adapting to new safety measures and equipment advancements. ➕ What would you add? 🌐 Let's commit to creating a culture of safety around heavy equipment. Safety is a top priority for every organisation. As we want everyone who works to go home safely everyday, the need to engage the Life-Saving Rules (LSR) in combination with the Fair Approach. LSR have proven their value in preventing fatal accidents, keeping our staffers and contractors safe. Analysis on serious incidents and risks have been carried on several organizations and these LSR developed to help prevent accidents. The LSR provide a framework and guidance for working safely. You need to follow them and know how to apply them in your daily work. When a LSR is broken, the Fair Approach will come into effect. Always follow the LSR, for your own safety and that of others. The LSR include; 1. Work with a valid work authorisation when required 2. Protect yourself against a fall when working at height 3. Work safely in confined spaces 4. Comply with the five electrical safety rules 5. Control lifting operations and danger zones 6. Use personal protective equipment 7. Follow safe driving rules 8. Keep yourself and others out of the line of fire

Ladder Safety Month | Week 1 Week 1 of Ladder Safety Month focuses on ladder training and awareness. Employers need to provide proper training to all individuals who will be using ladders: • Educate users on ladder safety guidelines, best practices, and potential hazards. • Instruct users to read and follow all the safety information labels on the ladder. • Promote a culture of safety awareness where workers actively identify and report ladder safety concerns. Avoid factors that contribute to falls from ladders: haste or sudden movement, overreaching, lack of attention, improper climbing posture such as standing too high or straddling the ladder and carrying objects and not maintaining three points of contact. • Preplan - Inspect and know the hazards within your work environment. • Choose the correct ladder for the job – a self-supporting stepladder or a non-self- supporting leaning, single or extension ladder.
