Love them or hate them, Funko’s Pop Vinyls are a global phenomenon, and they’re not going away any time soon as 10:10 Games and Funko just announced the Funko Fusion release date. The game features over 20 NBCUniversal franchises in the iconic Pop Vinyl style. Seemingly following in the footsteps of games like Fortnite with its plethora of licensed character skins and crossovers, Funko Fusion is “a festival of fandom like never before.” It’s also 10:10 Games’ debut title, but considering TT Games’ Jon Burton is one of the studio’s co-founders, Universal can trust that its IP is in good hands. If you don’t believe us, just look at the dozens of ultra-successful Lego games from TT. In fact, some early reactions online have compared Funko Fusion to the studio’s toys-to-life crossover game, Lego Dimensions. Let's review some of the extraordinary reception we've seen from these underdogs: 🃏 Balatro, a poker deckbuilder from a solo dev in Saskatchewan: 1 million sales in 25 days 🚀Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, a $10 spin-off of a well-liked co-op exploration/shooter: 1 million sales in 30 days 🐱Palworld, "Pokémon with guns" made by a modest Japanese studio of about 50 people: 1 million sales in 8 hours, 25M in 30 days 🏰Manor Lords, a medieval city builder sensation from a small team, 1M sales in its first day 🎥Content Warning, an $8 game about trying to go viral by bringing a camera into hell with your buddies: 1M in two weeks, after 6.6M players downloaded it for free on the first day The mood in gaming is understandably grim over the last year, but there is at least one heartening message being shouted from the rooftops, if you're willing to look up from the bottomless pit to hear it: the future belongs to weird little games like these. https://lnkd.in/eucRiCTX #gaming #indiegames #pcgaming #steam

Is the market for turn based games bigger than we realize, and could that be due to online discourse? Probably not. That said since there isn’t data to support or dispute this, I choose to believe that it is the case. I asked several people who I suspect have an online argument addiction and their favorite video games, by far, are turn-based games such as XCOM and the like. Turn-based games have maintained their popularity across different age groups across the decades. The recent success of Baldur’s Gate 3, a turn-based RPG, winning Game of the Year in 2023, demonstrates that there is still a significant audience for this genre. Other popular turn-based franchises like Pokémon, Civilization, and XCOM have also contributed to the ongoing appeal of turn-based gameplay. Who knows, perhaps soon we will see an explosion in demand for turn based games in the market once people realize that enemies stay defeated in games, when that isn’t always the case in online arguments, minus the block feature.

In a world where James Bond games are few and far between, the notion of a Lego James Bond game sounds incredible. TT Games’ knack for merging whimsical joy with great spectacle shines in its work on the Star Wars franchise, and pairing it with the early eras of cheesy Bond goodness sounds perfect. However, it appears that Bond overlords Danjaq and EON decided it wasn’t good enough to see the sun. If you’re a Bond fan, which I’m sure you are, then we reckon that we both agree that 2012’s 007: Legends can’t be the last videogame outing for Ian Fleming’s iconic spy. Before IO Interactive announced its upcoming action game, Project 007, to the world in 2021, it seems that TT Games was hoping to get a fully fledged Bond adventure game in the works. According to Redditor ‘LEGOGameMuseum’, footage of a proof-of-concept trailer was leaked on their Discord server, with some fans speculating this could have been DLC for Lego Dimensions. I love it when gaming gets weird. Growth in gaming has always come from the smaller end of the market, and it's encouraging to see these "weird" games gaining traction in the market.
