CEO of Expivia & Expivia Digital | Author of Three Call Center Ops Books | Advice from a Call Center Geek podcast | ICMI Top 25 Contact Center and CX Thought Leader
It’s a tradition that I post this every year and now that we are officially 20 days from NICE Interactions its time! Looking back to the days before COVID-19 interrupted live events, I recall a moment at NICE Interactions that stays with me. I was giving a talk on "10 Ways to Disrupt Your Contact Center with Technology and Best Practices". It was all set in sunny Orlando, and I was super prepared. I was fired up for this talk, I knew it would be fun and add a ton of value. Soon, however, I saw my speaking date. 😬 Next, I observed my speaking time. 😬 Finally, I learned the room where I would present. It was the conference's final day, the last talk right before Jay Leno's keynote, in a room quite ominously named "Canary 3", you know the bird they put in mining caves to…well you know. :) For a moment, my thoughts swirled with negativity. "Who's going to attend?" After three days of conference activities, on the aftermath of an amazing customer party, fatigue was bound to set in with everyone at the show. It seemed to me more likely that most would be having a drink before Leno's talk than listening to my talk. But then I arrived at the room...and attendees began to filter in. In ones and twos, then in larger groups, until we were nearly at full capacity. I still have a single picture from that presentation. It was an incredible session, vibrant with energy, and I truly enjoyed every moment. If you're attending the Interaction, I look forward to seeing you there. I’ll be speaking three times this year! All value, zero sales. Excited to see the name of the rooms I have this year :) #callcenter #contactcenter #cx #nice #callcentergeek

⭐ 7 key takeaways from attending Luminary Live this week ⭐ 1️⃣ Company culture and values matter DEEPLY, even if you are just a company of 1. That is actually the perfect time to define them and write them down. Chelsea C. Williams 2️⃣ My I*AM archetype is 6 x Innovator, 4 x Authority, 3 x Maven which means I have 1 million ideas going on in my head at once and need to be cognizant about grounding myself, prioritizing, and executing. Ophira Edut 3️⃣ Put more focus on leading indicators, rather than lagging indicators when it comes to my business. The leading indicators WILL move the needle. Meryl Simmons 4️⃣ Followers don't count 📣 Especially when we are starting out on social media, it is really easy to compare our 100 followers to the accounts with 100k. Consistent and quality content mean so much more with new algorithm shifts. Maribel Lara 5️⃣ Know your numbers in your business! Every month I track my revenue and expenses, but there are so many other numbers/metrics I should add to my scorecard. Q4 goal for me. Tricia M. Taitt 6️⃣ We are all sitting in a pot of boiling water when it comes to AI 😬 I already use AI as a creative thought partner, but can definitely step up my game. John Lawson III 7️⃣ Focus on elevating how you are approaching sales. It will start by going to a conference and shaking hands with every person in the room, but that is not scalable. Aim to be the person with the microphone. Allison Davis I was blown away by all of the valuable learnings I took away from the conference hosted by Luminary and Cate Luzio. The vibes were so welcoming and inclusive, no matter your intentions for the day. It can aso be really hard to peel yourself away from your comfy, home office for a day to focus on your own professional development as a solopreneur. It was a wonderful reminder how important it is to do that for not only your business, but your mental health, too!

Do you want your company on the CES keynote stage in the next two years? If so, today is the time to start the work! Keynote platforms like the CES stage are sought after by top CEOs and brands for their global reach, their ability to move markets, and their power to cement a company’s reputation as a visionary and innovative industry leader. But securing a sought-after keynote slot can feel daunting, confusing, or unreachable. If you think a CES keynote is the right fit for your global brand, here are some things to start doing at this year’s show: 1. Attend keynotes in person and see how brands like Siemens, L’Oreal, Walmart, Hyundai, Intel, Snap, Nasdaq, Elevance and Qualcomm approach their content. 2. Look at the high quality of the production and think about your company’s story – how would it be presented on that stage? 3. Check out the keynote theater to see the live in-person experience, and rewatch videos of the keynote sessions you missed. 4. Watch the headlines and see what the news coverage looks like for keynote companies. Take notice of what types of stories are written and by what type of media outlets. 5. Mention to your CES sales representative or CTA staff contacts that you’re interested in exploring a future keynote opportunity and laying the groundwork early for a Q1 conversation. Playing the long game and thinking a year ahead will not only maximize your planning time but put you ahead of your competitors. As the former head of content for CES, I bring 12+ years of experience overseeing the CES keynote stage. I can demystify the process and provide the insiders perspective on CES keynotes from proposal to execution. I would love to help you with your future CES keynote exploration or planning. “That one time I got electrocuted setting up a trade show booth . . .” Yes, it really happened! There I was, utility knife in hand, following the labor tech’s (misguided) instructions to “cut the wire.” I did it—then ZAP! Electricity jolted through me, knocking me to the floor. Smoke rose, and my team watched in horror. Determined to meet the exhibit deadline, I got up, took a few steps—and collapsed again. But after some water and a lot of relief that I was still alive, my team and I got back to work. We set up the booth, launched a great product, and made a big impact at that show. What I learned from this (besides avoiding live wires!) is that success isn’t just about ideas—it’s about great partnerships. The magic happens when clients, vendors, and creatives are aligned. In good times or bad, it’s those relationships that make things happen. Here are three key takeaways: • Clear communication is key—set expectations from day one. • Stay agile—things WILL change, especially at events. • Respect expertise—trust in your partners’ skills makes all the difference. Partnerships built on trust and execution deliver results every time. Ready to make your next project “electrifying”? Let’s connect! ⚡ #CreativeLeadership #Partnerships #ClientManagement #EventInnovation John Yezeski Kyle Herrera Stephanie Wiand Michelle S. Are the traditional business practices still relevant today? Or should our company experiment with a fresh technological approach? Absolutely, finding the right balance between traditional methods and embracing new technologies is key to success in today's dynamic business environment. 🚀 When we embarked on our journey as open mic show organizers, we were faced with the classic dilemma of old versus new methods. By elevating our social media presence and concurrently investing in banners and public interactions, we discovered a sweet spot. 🚀 The epiphany? It's not a battle between old and new, but a beautiful collaboration with cutting-edge technology. Our open mic shows was thrived on this symbiosis, with approximately 60% of participants joining us through the dynamic realm of social media, while the remainder is drawn in by the time-tested methods of banners and public engagement. 🌐🎤 This realization emphasizes the power of embracing the best of both worlds. In the realm of event organization, we've discovered that the magic lies in finding common ground between the past and the present. Cheers to the sweet spot where tradition meets technology, making our open mic shows a hit! 🎉✨ #EventOrganizer #InnovationInBusiness #BestOfBothWorlds
