I did enjoy the experience of making this video for #raredisease Day. (Though I could have at least worn trousers that fitted correctly I suppose). I spend a lot of my spare time writing and talking about #kallmann syndrome. For the most part I enjoy the interaction with fellow patients and raising awareness of the condition. Even though it can be a difficult subject to talk about since it involves development and fertility I think it is best to be open about the condition. #raredisease #patientexperience #patientadvocacy #endocrinology #hormonehealth #infertility #puberty #kallmann #hypogonadotropic

Out of every 100 pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S., 12 are due to preeclampsia, a life-threatening condition that often goes undetected until it’s too late. An additional 25% stem from other complications caused by missed warning signs and insufficient healthcare. What’s even more heartbreaking? 80% of these deaths are entirely preventable with timely intervention and proper care. Take Allyson Felix, for example. The world-class Olympian, known for her peak physical condition and rigorous prenatal care, was blindsided by a severe preeclampsia diagnosis at 32 weeks. Despite all her preparation—prenatal visits, birthing classes, and a well-planned birth strategy—her condition wasn’t caught until she developed dangerous symptoms. Rushed into an emergency C-section, her quick-thinking doctor saved her life and the life of her daughter, Camryn. This is the reality too many women face: despite being informed and vigilant, complications can arise unexpectedly. But it doesn’t have to be this way. At Myri, we're working to change that. Using AI and top-tier technology, we’re empowering women and healthcare providers with personalized, real-time insights into maternal health. Our platform helps detect potential high-risk pregnancies earlier, like preeclampsia, so women can get the care they need before it’s too late. By bridging the gap between awareness and action, Myri aims to prevent these needless tragedies and ensure more women—and their babies—make it through pregnancy safely. No woman should have to face life-threatening complications alone. We can ensure that fewer lives are lost to preventable conditions like preeclampsia. #pregnancy #maternalmortality #maternalcare #preeclampsia #eclampsia #highriskpregnancy

This concurrent session moderated by our very own Chapter Lead/President Jacqueline Fe Retes-Luy, PCC, FPM was an enlightening one. There is no such thing as generation gap! Understanding the context of where you are, in this case, the depth of understanding Filipino culture using the app called WALLY with Filipino Language was critical. This gains the perspective that understanding your context doesn’t need to be complicated. Make it simple, go back to basics and be Human-Centered, that’s a competitive advantage! #pstdignite #49thpstdac #pstddavao
Key takeaways from Dr. Dae Lee, Ph.D., “It’s not about the generation gap, it’s about the empathy gap.” #PSTDIgnite #TalentDevelopment #Philippines

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had the opportunity to lead a research called Through Her Eyes. This collaborative research of Ethiopian Medical Women's Association and Impala Communication assessed the impact of the pandemic on reproductive healthcare services in Ethiopia. It not only resulted in a policy brief but also a video that showcased the challenges faced by women during the pandemic in accessing reproductive health services. The video features firsthand accounts from women using reproductive healthcare services and frontline responders, capturing the experience in a powerful and relatable way. It was my first video discussing a research project, and I'm not going to lie; it was a bit of a challenge, but I had a great experience learning health communications. Revisiting the video made me reflect on the power of this video in timelessly conveying critical messages. This project exemplifies the effectiveness of using innovative methods to disseminate public health-related research. I encourage you to take 12 minutes to watch the video, and you will find me passionately discussing my favorite topic: Gender and health. https://lnkd.in/eEQ7nEHn
