Is there a profession you wouldn’t stoop to – or, if you are in #HR or #careers, a job - that you wouldn’t recommend? At Upturn Enterprise we often connect people with meaningful employment opportunities, helping to fill skills gaps for employers. We believe that the image of a profession isn’t everything. The thing about all the roles we have just mentioned are that they can be rewarding, they train transferable skills, bring you job satisfaction and help society tick. No job deserves disrespect. Lately, I've seen advice on how to spin job titles into something fancier. You know, the whole "culinary engagement manager" makeover for someone who works at a fast-food place. Look, I get wanting control over how you're perceived. But this trend makes me a little sad. ❓ Why do we feel pressured to upgrade our work just for the sake of status? Every job out there – from pilots to dishwashers – matters. It keeps our world running! Maybe you flip burgers to support your family, or you're a student hustling for extra cash. Those are valid reasons. 💡 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼. I walk the talk, and I'll go first. I just added my work experience in a warehouse to my CV. Years ago, I was the person picking up those boxes from a conveyor belt and filling smaller baskets – I helped make sure that your orders got where they needed to go! What a difference 8 months makes... In April Amy Perks applied for an admin role I was advertising. I laughed and told her no way with her experience was I employing her to do my admin 🤣 But I would love to have a conversation. When I interviewed Amy I could see she had taken a battering from life and her confidence was on the floor. 😔 She was more than capable of doing my admin & more. She just needed to remember who she was & what she is capable of 💪 So she started off doing my admin. On friday I promoted her to Assistant Branch Manager, looking after our permanent team. Amy has absolutely excelled over the last 8 months. Being a rock to me, bringing out the best in Nicky Clarke along with being a massive support to the temp team. Quite often have people apply for roles with us, that are way over qualified. I will always call them❗️ Normally because there is a similar story to Amy's. Just because someone seems over qualified doesn't mean they aren't worth an interview. Am I wrong? #teamwork #recruitment #promotion
