I agree. I was lucky enough to grow up in a household with my mother being a Math/Physics/Science teacher, my 4 sisters (RN, CPA, Electrical Engineer and Dr.) - My daughter has her PHD in Math and Statistics and so on for the 8 nieces. They are all brilliant and allow a different perspective on the world.
Consultant to the die cast and foundry industry. Carbon footprint reduction, furnaces, refractories, combustion and controls, marketing and safety! Keynote Speaker, trainer and mentor!
In my 43 years in the business I’ve met very few women engineers but the ones I have met have been outstanding. I hope there are more in the foundry world in the future!
Surprising and encouraging! Despite women purchasing 62% of new vehicles, they represent only 24% of the automotive manufacturing workforce. This disparity highlights a crucial gap in industry representation, stressing the need for intentional strategies to increase diversity. With the shift towards electric vehicles and emerging technologies, now is an ideal time for the auto industry to embrace diversity, fostering environments where everyone can see themselves thrive. #AutomotiveIndustry#WorkforceDiversity#Inclusion#Leadership
🌟 Honouring International Women’s Day with a message from Brembo’s Siti Abdullah AMIMI 🌟Reflecting on over two decades in the automotive arena, Siti highlights both progress and ongoing challenges in gender diversity:
“I have been in the automotive industry since 2003, and there have been some positive changes, with more women featuring in the industry. There are some great initiatives, like the Automotive 30% Club motoring towards its ‘30 by 30’ goal, having filled 27% of key leadership and decision-making roles with women.
“However, in workshops and roles of a technical capacity, the gender imbalance is still prominent. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to overcome the industry stereotypes to improve this imbalance.
“In Brembo, where over 15,000 people worldwide contribute to the company’s success, embracing diversity is not just a value but a vital strength. Brembo is committed to promoting an inclusive environment capable of supporting a sense of belonging. It empowers people to see themselves as integral contributors to the Group’s achievements, fostering a culture of inclusion that respects voices, individualities, and unique qualities of each person.”
As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let’s continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and build an inclusive automotive industry where everyone’s talents are recognised and valued. 💪🚗

Davos - where the world’s women gather.
Yes, odd as that might sound - this is one of my drivers for returning to Davos each year. The female network.
I was invited to speak about Leadership at Davos back in 2019 - by a female philanthropist, who runs a leadership think tank & wanted to amplify the voice of women leaders.
Having served in the military for 20+ years, trained female anti-poaching teams, served at the geo-political level, and regularly coach CEOs & C-suite: apparently I fitted the bill.
I was then invited to join Dr Anino Emuwa as part of the #100WomenOfDavos community, and the rest is history.
The community is full of female execs, CEOs, investors, politicians, advocates, philanthropists - a sea of high performers in their own worlds - from across the world.
When you think you can’t make a difference. You can. Much of this diversity has been enabled by the inclusive actions of Dr Anino Emuwa & Shelley Zalis bringing us all together 💫💫 Thank you 🙏
I have never really seen the world through a ‘gender lens’ - as all my roles have been ‘skills based’ - however to walk into an arena FILLED with women… was a completely new experience. Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know.
In the Military, it was your BRAIN & capability that counted. When you are at war - you need your A-team. The same in business.
Nearly all of my bosses & game changers in my life, offering me opportunities for work, and access, have been men. Which I am hugely grateful for.
Davos offers a new paradigm to compliment that.
Every room, every topic & every discussion - has women in it. Not to be PC - but because if you have the knowledge - you are welcome to play.
Davos is an arena where performance, knowledge and acumen are the drivers. Not gender or origin.
This is where the leaders of business, innovation, politics, policy and change - all gather to share ideas, thoughts and find ways to evolve the way the world works. It’s like an MBA \PhD on steroids with a cornucopia of topics from the frontline of global leadership.
For me, it’s like drinking from the fire hose of knowledge - daily, hourly, minute by minute:) With the worlds best as your guides.
There is nowhere else that you can have:
- a breakfast of #Netzero with the Soverign wealth funds playing off their strategies;
- a #bloomberg lunch with CEO #Citi (Jane Fraser ) & #Blackrock (Larry Fink) talking about future of work with diametrically opposed views,
- a quick deep dive into ‘Nature on Boards’, and the evolution of the C-suite & Boardroom at #Hubculture
- a deep dive into the future of Blockchain with the #FT,
- a fireside chat about Crypto law with CEO #Ripple & #Axios.
- and an evening filled with #Space & exploration with #Filecoin.
Who knows what Davos 24 will bring 💫
I’ll also be speaking & running a bespoke Davos leadership workshop … can’t wait :)

Although Women's History Month has passed, it's critical we continue to highlight the ongoing challenges women face, especially in major industries like #automotive. Women remain underrepresented across the industry, comprising only 24% of auto manufacturing workers as of 2020. Understanding and addressing this disparity is vital to fostering a more inclusive and sustainable industry future, especially as the shift towards #EVs demands expansion.
As Allison Grealis, founder and president of the Women in Manufacturing Association, aptly puts it, "People don’t stay at organizations where they don’t see themselves." A lack of diversity among leadership can leave employees questioning their long-term prospects.
A massive thank you to Allison Grealis, Jody Stidham, Joanna C. Cooper and Anthony Allen for sharing their invaluable insights on paving the way for greater #genderdiversity and #inclusion in the automotive sector. Read more on Automotive Dive. #WomenInAuto#DEI#manufacturing
An important topic that weighs heavy on me - equity and inclusion. Having spent 30 years in Automotive, I am passionate about creating more opportunities for greater diversity and inclusion. The stats speak for themselves. Deloitte research shows that organizations with inclusive cultures are 2x as likely to meet or exceed financial targets, 3x as likely to be high-performing, and 8x as likely to achieve better business outcomes. Big THANK YOU to Automotive DiveMegan Ruggles for speaking with me about why improving #diversity and creating opportunities for #womeninautomotive is as important as ever.
