⚙️ ‘NEMOs are one of the key pillars of the new Electricity Market Design (EMD) which has acknowledged the benefits the Single Day-ahead & Intraday Couplings (SDAC & SIDC) have brought to all Europeans and maintains the fundamentals of short- and long-term markets.’ ‘Аccording to the new market design NEMOs will continue to jointly operate Market coupling operations and stay committed to the European internal market with the knowledge and experience gained in the last 25 years of successful market operations.’ 📽 You can watch more on the role of NEMOs in the video with the ALL NEMO Committee Chairman- Rafael Gómez-Elvira González. The EMD was adopted by the European Council yesterday and earlier in April by the European Parliament. Entry into force is expected after publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. 📄

If you've been following the development of wholesale power markets in the #WECC, take a look at our new whitepaper. We reviewed several design features of EDAM and Markets+ with a focus on their impact for customer benefits. While the two markets have some small differences in their designs, none of them are likely to move the needle dramatically with respect to customer savings. How much customer benefit from these markets will be driven by transmission connectivity and the diversity of load and generation resources in each market footprint. Great collaboration with our team here at The Brattle Group, Oleksandr (Sasha) Kuzura, Johannes Pfeifenberger, and Kai Van Horn. #electricity #renewables #transmission #energytransition #grid

Was lucky to be invited to speak at the NAET summit in Helsinki yesterday, and Montel wrote this article based on my talk: https://lnkd.in/d4XpNzM9 The topics will be further explored in our soon to come long-term power market outlook "The Future of Power". It seems clear that opinions differ greatly when it comes to how electricity consumption will develop in the future, and hence the price of electricity. We have long argued against the view that we are heading towards a power deficit in Norway and the Nordics within a few years.

Thanks Gridcog for a great summary of what drives our #energyinnovation sector these days. It's clear that CER on mass will have a huge impact on both the wholesale, as well as retail electricity markets - as both loads, and generators. Exciting times ahead, and flexibility is the key !!
Ensuring grid stability is essential to keeping the lights on across Europe. 💡 In our latest video, Laura discusses the key ancillary frequency services that help prevent blackouts and maintain seamless electricity flow across the continent. This video explores how FCR (Primary Reserve), aFRR (Secondary Reserve), and mFRR (Tertiary Reserve) work together to safeguard grid balance. From the swift response required for FCR to the advanced coordination platforms like PICASSO and MARI. ⚡️ Watch our new Thinking Energy video below 👇

The flexibility landscape never rests! We’ve had new services go-live, record high Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) revenues across the winter, not to mention the challenging system conditions of late. The flexibility space in Great Britain (GB) is only going to continue at this pace, driven by a changing policy and regulatory environment, amidst the likes of REMA, connections reforms, LDES cap-and-floor, or the new parameters for BESS to name but a few. With more changes to come and more questions to be answered, we will be sharing our insights on this in our upcoming webinar ‘Navigating the Future of Flexibility Markets in 2025’. Our experts will delve into following topics: 💷 The current state of GB revenue streams for flexible assets. 📅 BESS Revenues: a year in review and future expectations. 📈 Market and Policy Developments. 💡 Our expertise and capabilities Book your place today: https://bit.ly/4he2yWn Find out more about our new digital flexibility service: https://lnkd.in/eGuDHwGY

Persistent sabotage of energy and telecommunications infrastructure are a major cause of concern in the European Union. On Christmas Day, the Estlink 2 submarine cable that carries electricity from Finland to Estonia was disconnected from the grid. This was just over a month after two telecommunications cables were severed in Swedish territorial waters in the Baltic.
