Article about our work highlights the utility of targeted therapy in a lethal form of AYA high-grade gliomas.👇
CDK4/6 inhibitors, which are already FDA approved for the treatment of other forms of cancer, show early signs of promise in the treatment of a subtype of pediatric high-grade glioma, according to new research from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Institute of Cancer Research in London. Treatment of a patient with a second relapse of this glioma subtype and no other treatment options resulted in 18 months of progression-free survival. "We are finally starting to see more targeted therapies come out for different forms of brain cancer," says senior author Mariella Filbin, MD, Ph.D. Read the full story here: https://bit.ly/47mA9tj #TheSontagFoundation #InTheNews

🔬 A recent study from UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center reveals promising results for using Manuka honey to help combat breast cancer. The research, conducted on mice, focused on estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer cells which comprise 70-80% of all cases. It found that Manuka honey could slow tumor growth by 84% without harming healthy cells. The research suggests that Manuka honey could complement existing treatments, potentially offering a natural, less toxic option for patients. While more research is needed to test its effectiveness in human clinical trials, these findings open up exciting possibilities for integrating Manuka honey into cancer care.
