Stichting Anemoon Since 1997, SMP has been utilizing citizen science to monitor changes in coastal marine ecosystems along the Dutch coastline. This long-term data, collected by dedicated volunteers, offers critical insights into the health of our nearshore environments. 🦀🐚 “Our data is very valuable because it’s long-term data. Data curation, in simple words, is the process of creating, organizing and maintaining data sets so they can be accessed and used by people looking for information. In the case of eDNA data curation relies on the available taxa information and how it is maintained and analyzed with the aim to avoid error in an analysis that involves eDNA. To set up an efficient and relevant Data Curation, you need to start with a precise mapping of the available data. This initial mapping is the basis for pragmatic and operational data governance. That is when #eDNAquaPlan comes into play, since it aims recollecting the available reference libraries/data repositories of diverse aquatic species around Europe.
