It was quite the honor to have the opportunity to share remarks at the Phoenix Center for the Arts BIPOC Arts 1st Cohort Class graduation ceremony for the evolution of 24 new teaching artists. Thank you, Sandra Bassett, MBA , Phoenix Center for the Arts and Eunique Yazzie and Cahokia: SocialTech + ArtSpace for your leadership to the program. Some of the valuable life and leadership takeaways I discussed include: 1. Identifying Strengths: Self-awareness involves recognizing and understanding your strengths and skills.  2. Effective #Communication: Being aware of your best assets enables you to communicate confidently about your abilities. 3. Continuous Improvement: Acknowledging your best assets opens the door to continuous improvement. Regularly assess and refine your skills to stay relevant and maximize your potential. From the words of John Maxwell’s Self-Aware Leadership, there are three zones I encouraged graduates to choose from after this program: • The coasting zone: I don’t even use what potential has been given to me. • The comfort zone: I use whatever potential I’m most comfortable using as needed. • The challenge zone: I will attempt to use the untapped potential I have not used before. Thank you Reo Pruiett and Communities Foundation of Texas for hosting the DCEO Power of Inclusive Leadership Generational Diversity Breakfast Panel! I learned so much about not only the Silent Generation, Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y, Gen Z but also the Alphas. A few of my key takeaways include: ✏️The power of brave spaces for learning from stories and unleashing impact and energy in the workplace. ✏️Generations are a diversity dimension that welcomes everyone who wants to learn from others and feel heard, valued, and appreciated for their contributions. ✏️When balancing expectations and tensions around sense of urgency between generations, getting everyone on the same page around the clarity of the business case can help. ✏️Corporations have a huge opportunity and responsibility to invest in preparing the next generation of leaders to close the leadership skills gap. ✏️Let's invest in our future workforce pipeline by speaking and mentoring students in schools at earlier ages to spark their interest in exploring new career options and growing their character and leadership skills! Reaching the end of our 5 Voices tour, we arrive at the 𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞. While the 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑜𝑛 𝑉𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒 -- only 7% of the population -- it won't be hard to find a few Pioneers in your life.
