Eddie Marsan. Actor
Are you a specialist?
Do you know Eddie? If not, you must be allergic to film and tv. Either that or its because Eddie Marsan is too good at his job; a chameleon and one of the most prolific actors working today. I don’t know about you but I buy in to the characters he has played completely and forget immediately that it’s the same really nice guy I met on the South Bank that time. I never think, “Oh no its that actor again.”
My point is, he’s not a specialist. You might say that’s expected in the acting world not withstanding that there are also specialist and branded actors. But is there room in the professional world to put the same breadth of expertise on show?
As a portrait photographer, I have to be very focused on a cohesive approach to portrait making. The look and brand are important so a photographer can stand out and be remembered. However, behind the folio are literally millions (yes, I use the word correctly) of images from every kind of photographic discipline which inform the images I put on show. The same kind of thing is true in other professions and I would be interested to know what people think. Must you be careful not to advertise too many skills?
For the record, a tiny tiny list of appearances and starring roles for Eddie: V for Vendetta, Mission Impossible III, Hancock, Sherlock Homes War Horse, The World’s End, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, Gangs of New York, Back to Black (release in April).
If you would like to have a chat about the kind of portraits you would typically need, give me a call or message me and we can talk options.
