London-listed VH GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE ENERGY OPPORTUNITIES PLC (VH GSEO), managed by Victory Hill Capital Partners LLP, has agreed to acquire and build two fully-permitted solar PV sites with co-located battery energy storage systems in New South Wales, Australia, for a total consideration of £16.9 million. “We continue to make progress with the continued build out of our Australian solar and energy storage hybrid programme," remarked Richard Lum, co-CIO of Victory Hill Capital Partners. "Once operational, these assets will play a meaningful role in providing needed renewable generation into the Australian energy system, as well as helping the system on its transition pathway to net zero. Furthermore, investors are offered a means to access interesting market pricing margins in a risk adjusted way, given we aim to hedge half of all production. "We believe that the Australian market continues to offer excellent opportunities to support their ongoing transition towards net zero.” Victory Hill said the investment forms part of its Australian Energy Transition Programme that was announced on 2 August 2021. Phase I of the Australian Energy Transition Programme consisted of the acquisition of two operating solar PV sites in South Australia and Queensland with a combined capacity of 17 MWp. Phase II involved the construction of co-located BESS to the South Australian asset, which was completed in July 2023. VH GSEO subsequently acquired and constructed three new solar PV sites totalling 4.95 MW, located in NSW, which was completed in Q1 2024. Installation works for the co-located BESS to all three NSW sites has commenced and the sites are expected to be hybridised in Q4 2024. VH GSEO's new assets add two 4.95 MW solar PV sites in NSW to the programme, with co-located 2-hour BESS on each site, bringing the total capacity in its portfolio to 37MW/60MWh across seven assets. The construction of these two hybrid sites is expected to begin in Q2 2024, with completion expected in early 2025. Once fully operational, the portfolio is expected to combine merchant sales, frequency stability services revenues, long-term offtake contracts and sales of large-scale generation (green) certificates. Birdwood Energy has been engaged as the operating partner for these two new sites. #cleanenergy

The Lazard report found that the LCOE for new-build utility-scale #solar ranged between $29/MWh and $92/MWh, just behind #onshorewind, which had the lowest LCOE ranging from $27/MWh to $73/MWh. Utility-scale solar also had a far lower LCOE than that of #coal ($69/MWh to $168/MWh).

Longroad Energy’s Artemesia Solar Project in Lyon County – Seeking Stakeholder Input for 300MW Solar Generation and Energy Storage Longroad Energy Management, LLC is set to conduct two virtual public meetings to discuss the Artemesia solar photovoltaic solar generation and energy storage project. The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, January 30, 2024, and Thursday, February 1, 2024. The proposed project is located approximately seven miles northwest of Yerington, NV, in Lyon County. Artemesia Solar, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Longroad Energy Management, LLC, has applied for a 30-year right-of-way grant. The number and value of large utility-scale solar and wind farm construction projects on which financial commitments have been made has dropped sharply back in 2023, new data from the Clean Energy Council says. But investment on energy storage projects is ramping up whist that on rooftop solar is also increasing. And renewables now account for almost 40 percent of national electricity generation - more than double their level six years ago.
