At Repsol we are working in CirQlar as an R&D project that aims to recover low temperature heat through a high temperature heat pump (HTHP) in a real industrial environment. The recovered heat is upgraded to generate steam that is used as heat source in other processes. This Heat Circularity concept allows to enhance energy efficiency and to decarbonize by reducing natural gas consumption associated with heat production. But What NEXT? This is not intended to remain as a single demo project, we are targetting a massive scale-up of the technology. For this, Repsol participates in the StreamSTEP EU Project financed by the #HorizonEurope programme with 29 partners that will streamline the optimisation of sustainable thermal energy systems and prototype technologies in process industries, enabling smarter concepts for industrial deployment of this technology. CirQlar, funded by the EU under the ETS #InnovationFund program, is a consortium of companies led by Repsol and formed by Rank® - Ciclos Orgánicos de Rankine (ORC) y Bombas de Calor de Alta Temperatura (HTHP) and Tecnicas Reunidas. #RepsolTechLab #RepsolACoruña #Technology #CINEA #HADEA #Decarbonization #EnergyEfficiency #HeatCircularity

🤔 "Which needs or expectations do our future customers have?" One of the many benefits of #HorizonEU projects consortiums is that the partners can share their knowledge with each other. 🇪🇺 🔝 This question was raised on the 11th of April at the #GRAPHERGIA First Exploitation Workshop led by Antonis Sapountzis, Project Manager at our Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation partner, AUSTRALO. The session consisted of two parts: ⬢ The first one was a masterclass in which Antonis introduced the partners into what is an exploitation strategy and how to approach it. ⬢ The second part was an interactive brainstorming session in which the partners had to actively start working on it to fill a common value proposition canvas. Light Science Technologies CEO on profitability and growth prospects - ICYMI @lightsciencetec #AIM #LST. Light Science Technologies Holdings PLC (AIM:LST) CEO Simon Deacon talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's 30% revenue growth, profitability milestones, and innovations driving margin expansion. Deacon highlighted growth across all divisions, particularly the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) segment, which saw a 250% increase. He attributed profitability improvements to efficiency gains and the high-margin nature of products in the passive fire protection and CEA segments. Deacon noted that the group's pipeline for CEA projects... http://ow.ly/Wgxc105QYSF

We're excited to share insights from our collaboration with Australian Rare Earths's Koppamurra project in South Australia, where we're working on innovation in the rare earth sector. Since partnering with AR3 in 2020, WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec) has been working on solutions in one of the world's few clay-hosted rare earth prospects outside of China. Traditional methods for project evaluation were unsuitable as they relied on established designs and operational costs derived from different regional contexts, which were unavailable for the project setting. Our first task was to develop a comprehensive mass balance model incorporating machine learning algorithms to simulate the extraction of rare earth elements and gangue dissolution using laboratory data; all this couldn't be possible without the professionals of Louis Covington and Joseph Bojcevski. This integration allows us to predict and optimise processes, forming the backbone of our profitability framework. We employed advanced Python scripting to create dynamic simulations of numerous extraction scenarios based on this model. This approach accelerates the scenario analysis process and consolidates the results into an easily interpretable Excel interface. Under the leadership of Jess Page, our method allows us to identify options with better economic prospects and the impact of some process decisions on the financial results of the project by facilitating rapid and straightforward evaluation of different operational strategies -Special thanks to Chantelle Bardadyn and lately, Nicola Taglienti, who has been in charge of all the background investigation related with the process-. This development shows our ability to handle complex challenges in an innovative and relatively new industry like clay-hosted rare earth extraction and assist our clients in making informed decisions while focusing on reducing operating costs and enhancing project profitability. Join us in advancing the frontier of sustainable rare earth extraction and help set new benchmarks in an industry crucial for a greener future 🌲 🌏 💡 . https://lnkd.in/grFM2fMF

In the world of #science and #innovation, some of the most groundbreaking discoveries are made when chance meets wisdom. Innovation often comes when you least expect it, and this couldn't be truer in the world of #chemical #construction and #coatings. Some of the most transformative materials we rely on today were born out of #serendipity - where chance encounters met scientific #curiosity. Discover these serendipitous moments that have revolutionised the chemical construction and coatings industry. Each discovery, born from unexpected results, now plays a vital role in improving the durability, flexibility, and efficiency of our everyday structures. ✨ #thewinningformulaforinnovation

Robert in this week's GCV Blueprint, (filling in for editor Maija this week while she takes some much-needed R&R,) makes the powerful point about how tech needs to "evolve over years or even decades to get to the smooth, seamless versions we have now". (Register for the newsletter here https://lnkd.in/eCxZkWkw ) This can apply at the basic stage all the way through to the finished product, such as a car or phone. Direct lithium extraction (DLE) has been in development since the 1970s yet only used at commercial scale at a handful of projects globally, the FT notes, but with Pekka at Rio Tinto's CVC backing and Mike at IP Group then ElectraLith, spun off from Australia's Monash University, hopes to change this. https://lnkd.in/egvQyCis It has successfully produced battery-grade lithium hydroxide from a variety of raw lithium types to diversify production from China and do effectively for batteries what shale extraction tech did for oil and gas in making the US and others self-sufficient. Innovation is strategic and the combination of university spinouts (H/T Kim, Thierry) and corporate and venture backing powers our future
