Chief HR Officer | HR Project Management | Recruitment & Selection | Organizational Development | Operational Excellence
Welcome to the CSL [Commonwealth Senior Living] People Podcast, a forum where I - and my partner in crime, Tammy Tuckey – are blessed with the opportunity to share the incredible stories of the most important people in our organization: the frontline team members who do the real work at CSL. There are so many people with so much to share with the world– we want to be a mechanism to do that. It stirs my soul to get to do this podcast, where will highlight what makes just some of the people in our organization special. Senior living is a unique setting. The industry is part healthcare, part real estate, part hospitality, part counseling services, and part cruise ship (say what?). There aren’t many other settings where on a community visit the HR leader is forced to do karaoke or participate in a drum circle! Senior living is a tremendous environment – one where seniors should thrive in the later stages of their life. We want to highlight all that makes it special, through learning about the individuals who form our team. But make no mistake – working in senior living may be a calling, but it is hard. We aim to show a genuine look at working in our communities, with all its beauty and challenges. Our episodes will highlight a CSL Core Value (we have six and they mean everything to how we do work each day). The inspiration for doing this is simple, really. I heard someone say that when you walk inside a senior living community, you should stop and just observe. What you find is your faith in humanity is restored. You see people taking care of people. You hear laughter. You see the silliest moments. You see connection. And at the end of the day, that’s all we need. There will always be time for the “challenging” community, for the open positions, or occupancy concern. Put that aside and focus instead on all that is right with senior living. Our hope is you find doing so fulfilling and learn a few things about what makes Commonwealth Senior Living as fun and weird as you’ve heard (maybe some of the stories are true). Be extraordinary today…and thank you.
