Today is a historic day for the Sunshine State. We've just passed our landmark laws to lock in: ✅ 80% renewable energy by 2035. ✅ 75% emissions reduction by 2035. ✅ 100,000 new jobs for Queenslanders. ✅ Generational economic security. The transformation of Queensland’s energy grid will create more than 100,000 new jobs in manufacturing, renewable energy generation, power transmission and the industries of the future. We’ve locked in public ownership of key energy assets and a world-first Job Security Guarantee for our energy workers. Under our plan Queensland will be a renewable energy powerhouse: producing cheap, clean, reliable power for households and businesses. We will build the renewable energy generation and transmission assets needed to power big industries in Gladstone, Mackay, Townsville, Mt Isa and more. That will create thousands of jobs for generations to come. I believe Government has an obligation to secure the economic, social, and environmental future of the state. That’s exactly what we’re doing. Mick de Brenni

The relationship between the CIB, Alexander First Nation, First Nation Power Development Inc, and Concord Green Energy was forged from a desire to work together to create long-term benefits for the Nation and their partners. Building off this shared sentiment, construction is currently underway, and 150 local workers are benefitting from jobs at the 23.6-megawatt Tilley Solar field, located on Treaty 7 territory southeast of Calgary in Newell, Alberta. The Tilley solar facility has continued benefits, advancing #FirstNation economic participation and increasing renewable power in Alberta. The partnership serves as a template for other Indigenous communities to replicate and develop clean power projects that benefit their communities. “This signifies the economic viability of the project for our Nation for many years to come. With that comes long-term careers/jobs for our Nation members, consistent revenue for the Nation, and our footprint into the green energy space,” said Chief George Arcand Jr., Alexander First Nation. The $33M investment by the CIB is helping to create a sustainable path to economic viability for the Nation and jobs for the community. Have a good think about these decisions made on your behalf by your state representatives in parliament. By all means, if you truly believe renewable energy generation is going to save humanity and is the best way forward for Queensland, then continue with the existing strategy. If you see these strategies as detrimental to the prosperity of the State and detrimental to the environment, then vote for any party but major parties.

Great to hear. However rou have a major problem right now … with Callide C power coal fired station coming back online; QLDs carbon intensity has just kicked up into the wrong direction and fast. What’s the plan for Callide C and coal in general? I hope there is a plan that steps out how this is goikg to be corrected and moved quickly into the right direction, accounting for the forecast for power to produce hydrogen.

There have been a lot of exciting announcements in the energy sector recently about new clean energy companies, partnerships, agreements and ventures. At The SOLA Group we see this buzz as an indicator that new things are coming. Energy users can expect more choice, more flexibility, and a wider range of energy solutions to emerge. But we are only at the beginning of this process. Any new and innovative energy service must navigate numerous, progressively harder milestones before it is fully commercialised and available to energy users. Before a single hole is dug at a power plant, there are years of environmental and feasibility studies, contract negotiations, grid connection approvals and fundraising efforts that have to be completed. Each milestone must be celebrated but the one that really counts - the #BIG milestone - is when the switch is finally flipped, the energy starts to flow onto the grid, the meter starts to roll and our buyers start to benefit. That's why we're excited to share the news that 200 MW of new generation capacity at our #SelemelaSolar project is now #fullyoperational, and delivering power to several of Tronox's operations across SA. This is the #first renewable energy project of its size that is selling power across the grid, from a private seller to a private buyer, using Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd's wheeling mechanism. The SOLA Group also owns and operates the 12 MW Adams Solar plant for Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is the only other plant of this size and type in operations. It took a massive effort from our engineering team, working side-by-side with WBHO Construction to turn this open veld into a brand new, operational, clean energy power plant. We're proud of being a #companyoffirsts and look forward to celebrating alongside the rest of South Africa as more of these types of projects begin to deliver electricity. https://lnkd.in/gau-bT7Z

Delighted to share the findings of our research on community sentiment towards onshore wind development in the UK. Key takeaways: 👍 7 in 10 believe there are benefits to lifting of planning restrictions on onshore wind in England 🛠 Efficacy in the UK and positive environmental impact are seen as benefits - but fewer than 1 in 4 believe onshore wind farms will create jobs locally 💡 Experience of development has a big impact on sentiment: 68% of people with experience of renewable energy development consider it acceptable to build a wind farm in their local area. Plenty more in the full report below - and do get in touch if you'd like to discuss the findings in more detail. #onshorewind #wind #renewableenergy #communitysentiment #planning #NSIPs
In July 2024, the Labour Government announced its ‘Policy statement on onshore wind’, which included the lifting of planning restrictions on onshore wind farm development in England and set a goal to double onshore wind energy generation by 2030. SEC Newgate recently conducted research to explore community sentiment towards onshore wind development in the UK. Read the full report here -https://lnkd.in/egHUtNgB SEC Newgate takes an 'evidence first' approach to consultation and community outreach. Get in touch if you'd like to talk to our team of engagement specialists about your project.
