🤝#CollectiveTriumph:
The Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) conducted a survey of 75 small-scale farmers who received VI.IA Soil Moisture and Solute monitoring systems, which were made possible by the collaborative efforts of DLARD, World Vision, and VIA facilitating training and ongoing farmer support in the water-scarce region.
Capacity building on irrigation scheduling tools has been identified as a critical gap in the growth of smallholder irrigation farmers.
The Irrigation Scheduling Tools (IST) pilot project addresses a knowledge gap by introducing farmers to simple, low-cost, and user-friendly water-saving technology for soil moisture monitoring.
See the results of irrigation scheduling, monitoring water application, ease of use, and increased water use efficiency by using the Wetting Front Detector (WFD), Chameleon Card, and Chameleon WI-FI System.
🙌Special thanks to Ms. Dabone Selboa, (DLARD) Agricultural Scientist, for conducting this survey.
