🚀 How Much Star Wars is Too Much? 🚀
🌌 Star Wars: Hunters, developed by Zynga and NaturalMotion Games, is the latest addition to the Star Wars game lineup. With Electronic Arts (EA)'s Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes already a staple in the mobile market, we explore whether Hunters will cannibalize its audience or if there's room for both games.
📈 So far, data from Sensor Tower shows that Hunters' launch hasn't impacted Galaxy of Heroes, suggesting that both games can thrive alongside each other, providing opportunities for licensors to diversify their IP offerings.

Video Games are often used as simulators for something. Activision along with Infinity Ward , Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games studios produced and published Call of Duty. Military game that often is a good gage on how people think when you look at the gameplay on campaign and especially when people play Warzone. Ubisoft with coming out with Tom Clancy games like Rainbow Six Siege , Splinter Cell series. If you want to dive deeper into those titles look at Assassin's Creed Series.
All of these strategy style games that make the player think about how to go about doing tasks build up amazing skills like
Time Management , Resource Management ,Economic Management , Team Building , Communication Skills , Attention to Detail , and the list goes on.
Same can be said with doing games based on professional sports along with so many others.
In this clip , I am using Yelan, to do this quick puzzle to get the rewards in the chest. It is the small things like this that build up skill sets that are valuable.

What happens when two superpowers of IP join forces?
The recently announced The Walt Disney Company x Epic Games news is a huge move in the world of IP.
I remember back in 2018 when Fortnite first introduced the Marvel Entertainment Universe into the game with their limited-time event to coincide with the release of the Infinity War film, and this was the catalyst for a game and world full of IP from Star Wars to John Wick to the NFL.
Since then, other games have followed the lucrative IP route introducing special characters into games like Call of Duty Warzone and Rocket League.
The new investment from Disney into Epic Games takes this idea of IP experiences in gaming to a whole other level. With so much incredible IP available within the Disney family, the possibilities are nearly endless.
As this looks to be a multi-year project, it will be interesting to follow the evolution of the new experience, and IP will be rolled out to expand the world that Disney and Epic Games are creating.

Sega is no stranger to putting Sonic the Hedgehog into just about any game idea possible. If there is an opportunity to put the blue blur into a new experience, they have likely explored it. That said, I don’t think many people saw them adapting the Fall Guys formula in 2024 on mobile. In a bit of a surprise move, we have Sonic Rumble upcoming, formerly leaked as Sonic Toys Party, and I got hands-on experience with the first closed beta for the game. Here are my first impressions of the upcoming free-to-play mobile title.

Could the epic rivalry between Baldur's Gate 3 and Spider-Man 2 be the gaming industries version of Barbenheimer?
It was Astarion versus Spidey once again at another awards show. This year's DICE Awards showcased the immense talent and creativity within the gaming industry, with "Baldur’s Gate 3" and "Marvel’s Spider-Man 2" leading the charge.
As games continue to push the boundaries of storytelling and innovation, we wonder: Are we witnessing the dawn of video games as the dominant form of cultural storytelling?

What is in the future for games?
Last week me and my fellow panelists Elisabet "Beta" Gretarsdottir, Shams Jorjani and Julien Wera shared our views on it on the Nordic Game conference.
As moderator we had the amazing Thomas Bidaux
A full room had come to listen as we gave our best predictions
Some of the takeaways were
- Times of chaos fuels innovation
- We will see new types of studios emerging
- Interest for different staffing strategies are growing
- Leadership and scalability are good skills to improve
- Next gen studios need to be flexible and ready to adapt to changes
Only time will tell what the future of games will look like
I for one am very curious how we will emerge from the current crisis.
What learnings we can draw from it and how we move forward
Because one thing is certain, people will continue to play games
That’s not going anywhere.
Arrowhead Game Studios have solved live operations/live service games, at least how it relates to their game and the #community they have built up.
Yesterday, the community got together to complete a Major Order called Operation Swift Disassembly.
In the game, "Major Orders" serve as the main objectives in Helldivers 2. Players have to complete time-limited community goals in order to make progress in the Second Galactic War, an ongoing campaign within the game.
The course of the war is not scripted as outcomes of battles depend entirely on player actions.
Due to this dynamic nature of the game, major orders can have various consequences for the Galactic War depending on whether players succeed or fail to complete them.
For example, planets can be liberated from or lost to enemy factions, preventing them from or allowing them to push into further sectors of the galaxy.
This translates to the following:
🎮 An engaged community
🎮 A premium game that has legs to stay on top of the top selling charts across PC and PlayStation
🎮 A game that feels alive
🎮 A game with as high a retention as I have ever seen.
The best live ops in games is a marriage between the devs and player community, and this is a match made in heaven.
Major scoop from China's gaming chiefs at the National Press and Publication Administration: an eye-popping 115 games have been approved, shattering a three-year record and eclipsing last year's figures. This announcement sparked a surge in the stock prices of major gaming firms like XD, YOOZOO GAMES, Glacier Networks, and QG Games, each experiencing different levels of uplift.
The gaming landscape is buzzing with a plethora of mobile and puzzle titles, peppered with a fair share of PC and console games. A standout trend is the rise in cross-platform games. #POPUCOM developed by Hypergryph, bridging PC and console as a B2P offering, marks a refreshing shift in the market.
Heavy-hitters Tencent Games and 37Games are among the approved, heralding a promising start to 2024 for China's gaming sector. With approval numbers soaring and regulations easing, the Chinese gaming market is positively electric!

You can shutter video game studios to boost your quarterly numbers all you want, but the creative people that drive the success of the gaming industry aren't going anywhere. New, independent studios will form...teams will reignite their passion projects (or spiritual successors). That's the thing about gaming, new IP can be created at any moment. There's no limits to what game devs can create.
Living one Wall Street quarter at a time isn't healthy for anyone. It doesn't produce great games and it doesn't sustain a business.

Today's case study will be of great interest to our gaming part of the community🎮👾
The gaming market demands constant innovation and engagement from studios. When studios don't meet user expectations, players lose interest, and the game suffers. One crucial way to prevent this is by ensuring a smooth and enjoyable first-time gaming experience (FTUE).
👉 This #casestudy delves into how we partnered with a game studio to improve player retention for their innovative, free-to-play, #collectible_card_game (CCG) set in World War II. We'll explore the testing methodologies we employed and showcase the tangible results that helped them improve #FTUE.
