Two weeks ago I have had the opportunity to join the annual team building event of Acclime Malaysia at Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia. Highlight of the team building event? Definitely the white water rafting, where I took an unexpected plunge during the most intense rapid. Yes, I am the one off the boat in the picture below. In those initial seconds underwater and floating on the rapid to wait for rescue, thoughts raced through my mind: embarrassment, I wonder if I was the first to fall; self-doubt, did I not follow the instruction properly?; and a quick apology to my boat members. Without dwelling on the momentary embarrassment, I was rescued by the guide of another boat, hopped back on to the boat with my members and continue the journey. This experience mirrors life's journey. Life often throws unexpected challenges; it's about facing them head-on, navigating the struggle, and finding the strength to rise again. We fall, we struggle, but it's the resilience that defines us. So, here's to embracing challenges, learning from the unexpected, and emerging stronger. 💪 #TeamBuilding #Resilience #AdventureTime

Head of Corporate Communications & Stakeholder Relations, Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad
"Please get some rest", a sweet message from my leader, this morning. It is 1st May, the #Labour's Day, and a public holiday in Malaysia. I have been on my laptop since morning, by choice. When you love what you do, and commit to giving nothing but your best, you will learn to breathe. I know many of my colleagues and friends are also doing the same as we gear up to deliver the responsibilities that we are trusted with. Selamat Hari Pekerja buat semua rakan kerja saya di CGC serta para kenalan di LinkedIn. Semoga usaha kita akan sentiasa diberkati.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐅 𝐇𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐁𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 Life is full of ups and downs, and it's all about habits. If you create a habit of always reaching for the best, then the best is yet to come. With that spirit, I have been traveling worldwide, and the past 10 years in Vietnam have changed my life. My career as a Hotel General Manager truly blossomed with my first role at the beautiful Tam Coc Garden. I’m, and always will be, extremely grateful for all the opportunities that came my way and the chances I created for myself. By the end of 2023, I felt it was time for a change. Whether it meant moving forward to a new adventure or eventually returning to Vietnam, I knew I needed a break. I needed to invest in myself and break the loop I was used to in order to reach the next level. That’s when I received an offer from Indonesia after posting on LinkedIn that I was ready to move. Since joining Plataran in early 2024, I’ve felt a deep sense of fulfillment. I feel like my mind, my experiences, and everything I've been through have led me to this point. Every professional and personal experience has shaped me into the person I am today. I feel more in control and happier to witness my growth. Let’s continue this journey and see where it goes, but one thing is certain: my consulting skills in hospitality management have proven themselves to be right. #PlataranBromo #HospitalityExcellence #Sustainability #GuestExperience #Leadership #NewBeginnings

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞: 𝐌𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲. Malaysia’s cultural richness and racial diversity is something we might take for granted. Reflecting on my school years, I’m grateful I attended national schools for both primary and secondary education, where a significant number of my friends were non-Malays. Those experiences shaped my understanding that prejudice and racism often arise from fear—fear of the unknown. It's true that ignorance plays a part, because once you’re consistently exposed to diversity, you realise there’s nothing to fear. In fact, the only prejudices you might hold are those learned at home. Through shared experiences—whether pain, happiness, or the challenges of growing up—we can break the cycle of prejudices passed down by earlier generations. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬. In Form 4, I wasn’t the best student. I’d done well enough in PMR to choose the science stream, even though I knew I wanted to study law, mainly because of the stigma attached to other streams and wanting to stay with my friends. But my disinterest in science, combined with my focus on basketball, led to poor grades. One day, after failing a physics test, I was visibly upset. My closest friends at the time—a Chinese boy, a Malay boy, and an Indian Muslim—tried to cheer me up, and then did something unexpected: they spoke to the teacher on my behalf. When they returned my test paper, I saw I had passed. To this day, I don’t know what happened—whether the teacher made an error or took pity on me—but what I do know is that my friends stood by me. They didn’t care about race, religion, or cultural background. What mattered was the bond we developed in school through a combination of shared experiences, common interests, and care and respect for one another. Looking back, I’m immensely grateful for those friendships, which taught me that kindness transcends differences. It’s these connections that show the true power of diversity. 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒚!
