[Helmet Innovation: Continued Advancements to Keep Players Safe] "The rate of improvement of helmet models has continued at an accelerated pace, multiplying nine times since the start of the annual testing program. The rate of innovation is evidenced by helmets' rankings over time: *Seven helmets that were in the Top-Performing group in 2020 are now newly-prohibited for the season ahead. *Better-performing helmets have contributed to an average sustained 25% reduction in concussions across the last five seasons. *For the fourth season in a row, nearly 100% of players are wearing top-performing helmets."

This is an excellent series! I never could have imagined being so intrigued by grass, yet here we are. Thinking back here were only a handful of games that I played on artificial surfaces in my entire collegiate and professional careers combined. I think the opposite it true for today's competitors. I did suffer a few knee injuries during my playing days but I am not sure any of them would have been different on artificial surfaces. This is a very interesting subject and one that I will definitely keep watching. #sportsbusiness #sportslawyer #bumknees

The Art of Shielding the Soccer Ball Having played as a forward , knowing how to shield the ball is crucial to any player who wants to play at a high level. There are many moments in the game where you’ll be surrounded by defenders and under pressure and have to protect the ball. Shielding the ball is an art that is a key part of the game that doesn’t get as much attention as it should. Not only are you protecting the ball, keeping possession, but it also allows you to hold the ball up in critical attacking situations & moments until a teammate can get into a better position to give a passing options for the team to play through or gives you an advatage to spin the defender & make an attempt at goal or assist. You can shield on defense as defensive tactic & shield on offense as a useful attacking tactic. Shielding is a constant and fundamental part of the game. If you can’t use your body to protect the ball, can’t turn away from pressure and keep the ball away from a defender, can’t cut back with either foot to protect the ball, the game will become very difficult very quickly. The key is to anticipate the ball & be big ( use both your upper & lower body as shield ) , stay low & strong plus confident , use your body to protect the ball, control the ball with the first touch and then lay the ball off with the second , checking back from tight spaces to receive will give you added advantage over the defenders & lessen the pressure. Use your body as a “shield” to keep possession of the ball and make it harder for the opponent to steal. The rules of the game allow you to place your arm on the chest of the opponent for balance, but be careful not to push as it would be a foul. There are two commonly used types of ball shielding with respect to body placement. 1. Back to Body Technique 2. Side to Body Technique

The first football helmet patent, U.S. Patent No. 1,698,769, introduced a leather helmet that protected the head but not the face. This design laid the groundwork for modern helmets. In 1940, John T. Riddell and his son patented the first plastic football helmet, offering a stronger, lighter, and more durable alternative. The Riddell Company became a key player in helmet innovation, producing nine of the NFL's top-performing helmets. In 2013, the NFL ended Riddell's exclusive branding rights to foster more innovation and reduce head injuries. https://lnkd.in/e-k_ivqa Sporting goods can be patented! #videotruth #bereal #doublestandard Okay… all across America, law-enforcement more and more are demanded to wear body cameras and to provide video to the public, justifying their actions and holding them accountable. If video evidence is sufficient to judge law-enforcement, then it is likewise sufficient to draw a common sense conclusion on what is seen in this video. No more double standards. Be real; be transparent. Be accountable.

✨️It's Monday! Time for another edition #IconicAdsMonday, where I share epic examples of stellar #BrandMarketing. Today's example may lead to you grabbing a snack ✨️ Brand: LAYS Ad Name: No Lay's, No Game Year: 2024 Agency: SLAP Agency Why I love it: For starters, it's an entertaining and engaging ad, with a creative concept and clear chemistry between David Beckham and Thierry Henry. But what I REALLY love is that it doubled as an epic brand activation within the San Siro Stadium itself. I guarantee you every person that was there that day will remember this experience. What did you think of the ad? And what are your preferred snacks when watching sports? (I'm personally more of a nachos and fries gal 💁♀️ ). #DavidBeckham #ThierryHenry #Marketing #Advertising #Branding #Brand #Football #Soccer #Lays #Advertisement #Ad #Sports #SportsMarketing

How to Defend Great Shooters in Transition A common question I've heard from other coaches is "How do I take away the '3' in transition?' More and more teams are taking advantage of transition offense to get their best 3 point shooters good looks in transition. More and more teams run their shooters to the corner or just let them spot up on the wing during transition. Make sure you prepare for this as well. As we prepare for an upcoming team. We will run the Tear Butt Drill, but each time we run the drill we designate one or two players on the baseline that are 3 point shooters that we CAN NOT give an open 3. In the diagram below, I am pretending that the 3-man is a deadly 3 point shooter in transition. Therefore when matching up in transition with them, the defender is not covering up the paint first - they are stepping towards the shooter and allowing their teammates to take away the paint. This may sound simple, but without practicing this in drills like Tear Butt Drill, players will not do this in the game. Players MUST rep this in order to do this in games. Players are responsible for communicating and locating the 3 point shooters in transition and getting out to them immediately As we transition back to defense, my 1-man who is the Floor General, should be helping out the team by pointing and identifying "shooter". My wing who is closest to the shooter in transition is NOT responsible for covering up the paint first. They run toward the paint, but they make sure they can close out to the shooter without giving up a 3 point shot. Plan And Be Flexible Your transition defense will need to change and be flexible depending on the team you are playing. The key is for you players to understand what you are trying to do in transition and the rules that you have installed for your transition defense. From there, look at what teams are trying to do and make your adjustments to take away their strengths!

🎟️🏀 PHX BRINGING BACK PAPER TICKET STUBS 🏀🎟️ The phrase “ticket stub” is making its NBA comeback. The Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers will be adopting a 20th century concept this season, a ticket that actually arrives in the mail, with one slight caveat: It won’t get you in the door. Instead, in what could eventually become a leaguewide activation across the National Basketball Association, the teams have partnered with printing company Weldon, Williams & Lick to take advantage of the newest rage in memorabilia: turning digital tickets into high-end hard copies after the fact. The platform is called Direct Souvenir, brainstormed by Fort Smith, Arkansas-based WW&L and promulgated the last three years by the NCAA and more recently Major League Baseball. During last year’s World Series, the Arizona Diamondbacks gave fans the option of paying $15 to $20 extra to transform their digital tickets into physical ones, which would show up 10 days after a game, and sparked an idea with the Suns to follow suit. In a pilot during the 2023-24 season, the Suns rev-shared with WW&L to produce post-event commemorative tickets for their Dec. 15 game against the New York Knicks (when Shawn Marion’s No. 31 jersey was retired) and their March 2 game against the Rockets (when Amar’e Stoudemire’s No. 32 jersey was retired). #memories #retro #revenue #phoenixsuns #ericcook
