The Church of England's Net Zero Ambition: Why Aim for 2030? 🌍⛪ With a bold target of achieving #NetZero carbon emissions by 2030, The Church of England demonstrates leadership in the fight against climate change. Their Demonstrator Churches project, supported by Benefact Trust, is helping almost 60 churches work towards net zero by the end of 2025. What’s driving this ambitious target? Julian Atkins, Net Zero Programme Director for The Church of England, explains in this insightful clip. 🎙 Watch the full video by clicking the link in Benefact Trust's post below 👇 #ClimateChange #DemonstratorChurches #WRSInsuranceBrokers
Ask Julian: Why is the Church of England setting such an ambitious net zero target? With the ambition of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030, The Church of England is taking action to help protect our planet for future generations. This includes their Demonstrator Churches project, funded with support from Benefact Trust, which aims to help 60 churches achieve net zero (or close to it) by the end of 2025. This initiative will provide valuable learning opportunities for churches across the country, and is one of a series of Church of England projects designed to support dioceses, parishes, and other buildings in their care in achieving net zero. But why such an ambitious target? Julian Atkins, Net Zero Programme Director for The Church of England, answers in this clip: 🎬 Watch the full video with Julian here: https://bit.ly/4gmRwhc #netzero #ecochurch #climatechange #demonstratorchurches

Demonstrating how churches can reach net zero 🌿 The Church of England’s 2021 Carbon Emissions Report revealed that church buildings emitted around 411,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases. With the goal of decreasing that figure to net zero, the Church of England’s Demonstrator Churches project (supported by £1.5m in pledged Benefact Trust funding) is one of a series of Church of England projects aimed at supporting dioceses, parishes, and other buildings in their care to achieve net zero. The North West Heat Transmission Highway is designed to integrate around the HyNet scheme, harvesting the enormous amounts of waste heat produced as a byproduct from the hydrogen production, as well as, the waste heat produced by local industry and power stations. This low carbon, low cost heat can easily be delivered to consumers in the region. We wonder if Net Zero North West and the UKRI - Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC) are aware of this fantastic opportunity to eradicate fuel poverty once and for all and bring cities such as Manchester City Council and Liverpool City Council closer to net zero?

Delighted to be attending my first #WalrusTalks event, It’s Electric the road to sustainable futures, cities, and industry. Thx to The Walrus, Presenting Sponsor Concordia University and all the Annual Sponsors (including Ontario Chamber of Commerce members VIA, and RBC, aircanada). Some great speakers on. Some key takeaways for me: "Energy transition is job transition" - there is an opportunity for jobs as we embrace technologies. The climate change we are experiencing today is a lagging indicator of past - "we still have baked in change for the next 50 years". We need to eliminate, not just reduce emissions. And we all need to "aspire to be ambitious" - think about a 100-mile clean energy diet. https://lnkd.in/gdTdBAcC

Supporting Australia's First Nations peoples and their communities is a key focus for us at TEM. This National Reconciliation Week, we're proud share the achievements of our partner, Arnhem Land Fire Abatement (ALFA). ALFA is an entirely Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit carbon business. It supports Aboriginal Traditional Owners and rangers to utilise customary fire knowledge, together with contemporary technology, to accomplish highly sophisticated fire management. When our customers support ALFA’s projects, it not only helps avoid carbon emissions, but also provides important social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits for Indigenous landowners. Here’s a quick snapshot of ALFA’s impact: 🌱 Millions of dollars annually reinvested in Aboriginal communities via wages 🚁 300+ Aboriginal rangers employed 🔥 Supports Aboriginal people to live and work on their country, allowing a connection to their cultural identity 🌳 Natural and cultural assets across 86,000 square kilometres protected from large scale wildfires 🌏 Over 5.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions avoided since 2015. 🚀New Community Initiative in Bristol - With support from Innovate UK, residents in Knowle West, Southmead, and Easton can now join an innovative scheme aimed at tackling the climate emergency. Knowle West Media Centre, Southmead Development Trust, and Eastside Community Trust have each received £100,000 to work directly with residents on developing clean energy plans. This initiative is part of the Transforming Energy Together programme under Innovate UK’s funded Mission Net Zero project, led by Bristol City Council. The focus is on practical solutions to cut energy emissions, make homes warm and dry, and improve overall quality of life. Bristol is on its way to becoming net zero by 2030, and community-driven projects like this are crucial. 🤝 Read more here: https://ow.ly/tEYw50SVA68 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #NetZero #CommunityInitiative
