In a digital-dominated world, the irreplaceable magic of in-person connections has never been more evident and a recent lecture attended by our Creative Director Stephen Whelan on the history of Nintendo served as a powerful reminder of this truth. Amid the simple setting of a Brixton pub, a conversation with a stranger sparked over familiar tunes from Donkey Kong Country 2 highlighted the essence of a truly memorable experience - the feeling of being understood, of being part of something greater. At FUEL, we’re passionate about creating such moments; our mission is to design experiences that not only entertain but profoundly unite and our commitment to fostering connections through events and experiences that resonate on a deeply personal level is unwavering. Read Stephen’s recent blog post for Eventex - people need people, let’s feel it and let’s celebrate it. Founder & CEO of Latino Business Summit | Event Specialist & Staffing manager at @Indigo events | Latina Entrepreneur
Hosting events of this magnitude has taught me invaluable lessons, particularly regarding the importance of selecting names that fulfill two crucial criteria: - Clarity in Target Audience: Names should clearly indicate who the event is intended for. - Memorability: Names should be memorable for both the audience and associated brands. Last year, our event was known as the "New York Latin Experience." However, during our promotional efforts, we noticed a lack of resonance with the audience. Consequently, we made the bold decision to rebrand it as the "Latino Business Summit." This wasn't a decision taken lightly; we feared that people might perceive it as a different event altogether, disconnecting it from the positive experiences of the previous year. To our relief, the outcome was quite the opposite! The new name not only clearly identifies the target audience but also offers us the opportunity to expand the event across the United States, aligning perfectly with our primary goal for the upcoming years. Here's more information about the event below. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you're interested in having your business participate in this enriching experience. https://lnkd.in/e2aWgZdH

As we approach New Year's Eve, we wonder: What's in a party? 🧐 What's the secret to a killer office party that also builds culture? ✨ One of our not-so-secret secrets is called Kenan Olovcic 💁♂️ He's our in-house Chief Surprise Officer, party-planner-prodigy, and the brain behind the Menti Festival; our annual big-bang company party 🪩🥂 We asked him to share some of his thoughts on organizing parties at scale and what makes the Menti Festival so special. 🗨️🙋: Kenan, why do we organize the Menti Festival? 💁♂️💬: In its core, the Menti Festival is a celebration of all our achievements! We organize it as a grand finale to the "Menti-Days," our strategy days where we collectively embody our strategy, vision, and mission 🗨️🙋: What makes the Menti Festival stand out from other company parties? 💁♂️💬: We design it to be relevant to us at Mentimeter. The Fest is planned around letting all Menti employees invite their +1's into our world. This celebration is designed to highlight the culture that we all help shape and create every day together. 🗨️🙋: How do you make sure everyone feels included and safe during a party at this scale? 💁♂️💬: Designing for everyone is designing for no one. With that said, offering a wide variety of activities, keeping food vegetarian and inclusive, and implementing feedback from past years creates a fantastic combo for having lots of people leaving the party with their minds blown 🤯. 🗨️🙋: Lastly, what are the key elements to a successful office party? 💁♂️💬: I'd say three things: 1. Knowing yet challenging your audience. 2. Awesome and curious partners. 3. Colleagues eager to hang out. Thank you Kenan! 💙 Want proof the Fest was indeed spectacular? Have a look at the pictures below. 📸

It's been over a week and I'm still reflecting on last week's (Doing) Business For Good San Diego Summit experience. 🥳 I've heard so much great feedback about how good it felt to be at an event where people were warm, generous, and kind. It's not what you'd expect to hear about a business conference, but I think it's what the world needs most right now. 💐 I had the privilege of opening the Summit with a meditation, and while I wrote it for this specific event, I hope it applies to every space I inhabit. Here's an excerpt: 🌟 If you believe that business can do good, and be good, and feel good, this space is for you. 🌟 If you want to see a San Diego where everyone thrives, this space is for you. 🌟 If you want to learn and grow, whether it’s in your field or a new one, this space is for you. 🌟 If you’re looking to connect with people from different backgrounds with different experiences, this space is for you. 🌟 If you want to make a difference and need some inspiration of how to get started, this space is for you. 🌟 If you’re here to generously share your expertise with others, this space is for you. 🌟 If you simply need to be somewhere where kindness is more important than status, this space is for you. 🌟 Because, no matter where you’re from, or what you look like, who you love, or what you do, we want you to know - this space is for you. 💖 -- Honored to have worked with these trenchmates – all volunteers and bad asses in their respective fields, but more importantly, amazing humans. Love you all! 📸: Natalie Chiles Photography #BFGSummit

This is easily one of my favorite parts of my job - telling stories about how cultural trends unfold on Eventbrite. This is great CNN Business piece by Nathaniel Meyersohn that dives deeper into the rapid growth of book clubs and how Gen Z is putting their own spin on them 📖 CNN: https://lnkd.in/evAnGDXf Take a peek below ⬇ for our full findings that Viviana Wiewall outlines so well!
Senior Director, Head of Consumer and Product Communications at Eventbrite | Ex-Twitter, Apple, Paramount
As we continue to keep a close watch on how cultural trends unfold on Eventbrite, it's really exciting to see how book clubs are taking off, especially with the buzz around Kaia Gerber's new club and BookTok. And it's not just about books and finding new ways to connect with others - Gen Z is also looking for something different from the usual late-night, booze-filled scene. Let's take a closer look: 📈 Eventbrite saw a significant 24% increase in book club events all across the US from 2022 to 2023. 📚 Event organizers are transforming book clubs to provide an inclusive and diverse space for Gen Z audiences, introducing experiences such as queer book clubs, which saw attendance spike by 82% from 2022 to 2023, and silent book clubs, which experienced a 16% rise. Additionally, unique concepts like romance, boozy brunch, and even singles book clubs are also gaining traction. 🗣️ Expanding on this trend, Eventbrite has noticed the rise of what we call "literary socials" – events that mix written and spoken arts with social experiences. These gatherings include poetry slams, poetic jam sessions, and evening running routes inspired by literature (Chicagoans, make sure to check out Read & Run Chicago's awesome events). Below is a great CNN Business piece that dives deeper into the rapid growth of book clubs and how Gen Z is putting their own spin on them. Kudos to Megan Phelps for working on this and many thanks to Nathaniel Meyersohn for the opportunity to be featured! CNN: https://lnkd.in/evAnGDXf #eventbrite #trends #bookclubs #events #press

Innovative and pioneering leader, curating and connecting people & ideas to bring concepts to fruition and drive continuous change with high-level results.
“Come on, people now Smile on your brother Everybody get together Try to love one another right now” Not the easiest thing to do these days am I right? I’m sure it wasn’t for The Youngbloods and the rest of the world back in 67’ for other reasons. The world looks different today then it did back then but one thing that’s remained a constant is that music can bring people together and create commonality. Today is an exciting day for our internal teams as we bring them together to share some exciting news and invite them on a journey toward connection and discovery. Music will play an important part in bringing these teams together, honoring the “Burning Love” for our company’s Las Vegas roots to the soothing slack key mele of our ohana in Maui. Sound and rhythms can impact the psychological and even physiological of a group, creating a sense of comfort and belonging. It’s such an important tool in the toolbox when bringing people together and an easy way to celebrate and embrace both the regional and company cultures of our two teams. We hope the experience we create will spark some curiosity across the company and excite the teams to be apart of what’s next! If you have a second, take a read at just how else you can create a sense of belonging and engagement across different audiences. https://lnkd.in/gY8C33t2

If there's one event no one has been able to get away from this summer, it's Taylor Swift's "Eras" tour! But what made it so memorable? Obviously, she has a massive fanbase that was thrilled to see her live regardless, but by the end, many attendees saw it as so much more than a concert. So what was so special about this specific tour? 1️⃣ It was treated as an experience from the beginning. The attendee experience wasn't just about watching the performance—it was about every aspect of the atmosphere. 2️⃣ It was engaging. Fans were made to feel like part of a community united around a common passion. 3️⃣ It maintained excitement. Every show was different, from guests to the playlist, so fans never knew what to expect and the excitement stayed alive. 4️⃣ There was genuine appreciation. Acknowledging and expressing gratitude for an audience's time and energy can go a long way. I love how many lessons in event planning can be learned in the most unique and unexpected spaces! Have you ever picked up any tips from an unexpected event like this? #EventPlanning #Concerts #Eras #EngagePrestige

Everyone at Fairplay: Childhood Beyond Brands is getting 'Relationality: How Moving from Transactional to Transformational Relationships Can Reshape Our Lonely World' by David Jay, Fairplay Board Member and an indispensable advisor to the Screen Time Action Network. Relationality offers a roadmap toward a world of abundant connection: one where individuals, organizations, and democratic societies know how to invest in the relationships they need to thrive. Grounded in foundational scientific principles and movement organizing practice, Relationality shows how readers can create the conditions for relationship and demonstrate the impact of their work without relying on transactional metrics. One of our favorite quotes from David's book perfectly sums up the ethos of the Action Network: “We can predict the conditions for relationship, but not where the relationships will lead”. We love seeing connections made at the Action Network blossom into incredible partnerships and impact we would not have predicted (as highlighted in our last post on Members in Action this week). Relationality is for people who wish to create the conditions for these kinds of connections to flourish in their lives and organizations. You can order now at: https://lnkd.in/guCsD5PB. You’ll also find a form where you can sign up to attend regular events for people working to build relationship in the world. We can say from personal experience- these events are worth checking out! *AND we will be giving a free copy of Relationality to a randomly selected person who reacts or comments on this post!*
