Hello friends, Happy NEW YEAR!! I need to make $800 in the next month or so. My husband and I need to move, as our lease is up and we cannot renew. So we are taking a leap again to move to San Antonio which is about 3.5 hours from us. We are moving with our 3 kids, Buff, and my 2 other cats we adopted last year. We have calculated moving costs and cat care in the coming month. I need to make this money for our cats to get shots + see the new vet I'm contacting in SA after we move the first week of February. I also need to get cat supplies, a cat tree, and some other little things for them to set them up in our new space. I'm putting out offers to make this money & am still selling my Fantasy themed Workbooks for neurodivergent adults. I'm always very transparent here about my goals, why I need money fast when fundraising and what It will go towards. So I will be posting updates here as I go. This year I want to share content about my life as an #autistic woman with #adhd, #cptsd, and learning disabilities. I'm creating resources and digital Workbooks + courses to help other late realized neurodivergent adults. And I'm brainstorming the same kind of products that ND parents can use with their ND kids so the whole family gets supported! I'm also contacting local cat cafes and shelters so that when we move I can get involved with cat rescue + donation. I'm so passionate about helping cats and love my cats dearly. BUFF has been a blessing to our lives and because of him, I became a cat owner to all 3 (I'm blogging about that story). I want to help out locally and help fundraise to cat rescues. I'm also looking into cat cafes as a business opportunity to offer my Neurodivergent Support services at (or to open my own practice partnering with a cat rescue program). "It's so easy to talk to people here." It was a comment from a mum at one of our recent peer support groups. A few people nodded in the room and acknowledged that it can be hard to find spaces where people can talk openly, without judgement, about how challenging the transition to parenthood can be. Not to deny the moments that move us. But also to recognise that parenthood isn't monolithic. It is full of conflicting feelings and we don't often create room for that. In some parent & baby/toddler groups it can be hard to be honest without feeling icky, self-conscious or even a sense of failure when others appear to be Loving. Every. Moment. Great, if they are, but I'm not such it's 24/7 pure joy. There is an ambivalence to parenthood that is perplexing. We might feel disillusioned by the apparent disconnect between expectations & reality. At Smile, we wanted to create safe spaces for honest conversations. If we hold these spaces with compassion and warmth, it allows everyone to come as they are, with no need to 'put a mask on'. That can be such an immense relief. When people come together like that, with a relational approach, it creates a natural environment of mutual support. Grandparents and children have a special connection that is proven to both make grandparents live longer, and also make children more emotionally resilient. The meaning of ‘Footprints’ Baby Loss https://lnkd.in/eZ9WDs3R When Sharon and I decided to create a new peer to peer support bereavement charity for those affected by the death of twins or triplets, finding the right name was our initial hurdle. We spent a long time trying to come up with a name that would resonate with anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby. Finding a name that was fitting, that we both liked and that was available in terms of domain names, meant that we could not go with a few of our initial ideas. ‘Footprints’ then emerged as the clear winner, capturing the essence of our mission and the lasting impact of our babies. The meaning of ‘Footprints’ baby loss Footprints felt like a really meaningful name. It is something that a lot of people associate with their baby loss no matter what stage the baby loss has happened. We often think or talk about the imprint a baby has left on our heart even if they are not here with us. If the death of a baby or babies is at a slightly later gestation or neonatal, then it is common for footprints to be taken of the baby or babies that have died. These are so special in the baby loss community. Remembering our twins after they passed away From the very start, we had the idea to somehow include our own twins’ footprints in the logo. Both Sharon and I found a footprint from each of our twins; Charlie and Joshua & Rory and Daniel. With the help of technology and a creative touch from Sharon’s daughter, Jess, we brought these footprints together. Footprint Baby Loss: more than just a design Kindly, a friend of ours, Paul Britton, who owns and runs his design business, Origin, offered to help us create a logo for Footprints. Paul was sensitive to our request about exploring the possibility of including these two sets of footprints and came up with some lovely designs. It stands at the heart of our twin and triplet baby loss charity, representing our dedication to providing peer-to-peer support for families grappling with the death of a baby from a multiple birth. Luckily Sharon and I both loved the same design and the fact that the logo could include a footprint from each of our four twins that died. It felt so incredibly special and meaningful as those boys are the reason Sharon and I are on this journey. It feels right that they are at the very core of this charity… representing all the other babies gone too soon. By sharing the story of our logo, we invite you to join us in our mission to support families affected by the loss of twins, triplets, or any baby.
