We're all for autism awareness until... #Autism #ActuallyAutistic #Neurodivergent #Neurodiversity #Disability #DEI

To me, the wildest thing about accommodations is that more than half of them come down to human decency and shouldn't require justification, much less a clinical diagnosis. Not every autistic person knows they're autistic when they ask for accommodation, but even if they do, they shouldn't have to disclose it to be treated with decency. This goes doubly for accommodations that contravene what is considered professional. If the only hesitation comes down to professionalism, there's probably a more accurate and less flattering descriptor (like arbitrary adherence to century old hierarchical social conventions).

Commenting for more reach. Some of the best people in my life (both personal and professional) are autistic, and deserve workplaces who fight for them.
