Founding Partner of Aspire OT, Occupational Therapist, Author, Instructor, Helping OTs, OTAs and students through affordable continuing education and helping organizations provide AOTA approved CEs for their events.
The evidence supports the use of occupation-based interventions to maximize outcomes. I also think that the use of occupation-based and activity-based interventions demonstrates OT's distinct value and increases client's participation in OT services.

After becoming a licensed occupational therapist, I will take continuing education courses to expand my knowledge and stay current with the most effective treatment interventions. While spending time on the surgical intensive care unit during my level II fieldwork, I have seen many patients with spinal cord injuries. One course I am interested in taking is “Spinal Cord Injury: Splinting”. This course will provide me with information on splinting options for resting positioning and function. For these patients, it is important to prevent contractures and spasticity as well as improve mobility. #SHUOT2024

2moSeriously, I’m astonished by the care partners and their stroke survivors. Talk about codependency. In 2008, my catastrophic massive stroke brain had a golf-sized hole due to a blood clot exploded due a car accident. My narcissistic ex-wife fled my three children and let my parents, my sister and my friends pick up the pieces of our shattered lives. She returned only to maligned my family. In slowly motions, she didn’t care my children, our home, my mute & cripple self, she moved my children into her parents’ condo, her took her ex-boyfriend as a lover and wanted a divorce (2 years past my stroke). I am my own caretaker. I take care of my little ones, back then. Now, I talked to them by FaceTime. I work hard to pronunciation my sentences and strength my muscle groups. Today, I run my own therapeutic design studio. I make my own food, clean my own home, I date, go to tango lessons, I hop on a plane to visit my teenagers and parents. Why don’t you suggest your stroke survivors’ care partners leave them alone while their stroke survivors go for a walk, cook dinner, make the bed, take a shower, go on a bus to the mall, speak to a stranger……. Let’s see what happens….
