The presentation Clinical Outcomes From a Phase 3, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial of NE3107 in Subjects With Mild to Moderate Probable Alzheimer’s Disease (Christopher Reading 1, Clarence Ahlem 1, Joseph Palumbo 1, Nily Osman 1, Marcia Testa 2, Donald Simonson 3 ) will be presented on Wednesday October 25 at 12:20pm. The last patient came in for the last treatment in late September 2023, and the Company is currently resolving queries and cleaning the database in preparation for database freeze and data unblinding. Interesting article outlining the advantages to collecting patient reported outcomes in oncology trials. Payers find this information valuable when making decisions. But, as the article notes, if PROs are administered when the patient is exhausted from travel, or a patient has strong emotional reactions to a clinical trial setting (e.g., anxiety or discomfort), their self-reported PRO symptoms may be negatively skewed. 🧠 Cognito Therapeutics, Inc. has enrolled the first patient in a biomarker substudy within its HOPE pivotal trial evaluating sensory stimulation device in Alzheimer’s disease patients. The study is assessing the efficacy of Cognitio’s GammaSense Stimulation system in subjects with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. Cognito’s chief medical officer Ralph Kern said: “We are on track to achieve study completion within our projected timelines, with over 240 patients currently enrolled in the HOPE study across 60 active sites across the US. Probable breakthrough in detecting PRE-clinical Alzheimer's Disease (results need to be replicated in broader study bases). https://lnkd.in/ecnMvg3a As a standalone test, plasma p-tau217 identified AMYLOID beta PET–positive COGNITIVELY NORMAL adults with a positive predictive value of 80% or greater. What does this mean (if study results are replicated)? It means reduced cost and logistical barriers to identifying asymptomatic people as having pre-clinical AD. This increases the number of people identified for clinical trial, likely accelerating drug discovery. Good news for Neurodegenerative therapies.... BlueRock Therapeutics reports promising 18-month outcomes from their Phase I trial of bemdaneprocel for Parkinson's disease, demonstrating continued safety and notable improvements in patients. The therapy, aiming to replace dopamine-producing neurons, showed sustained cell engraftment and enhanced F-DOPA signals post-immunosuppression. Particularly in the high-dose cohort, significant enhancements in motor symptoms were observed, indicating potential for substantial quality of life improvements.
