💡 Great ideas come from The Great Room! One of our core values is Radical Collaboration: the mission is greater than any one of us. For the past 5 years, we've joined forces with a team of leaders in Orange County from government agencies, non-profit organizations, K-12 schools and colleges to increase regional employment opportunities for neurodivergent individuals. This taskforce is hard at work! It takes all of us to make systemic and lasting change, and we must come together to do it. #radicalcollaboration #strengthindiversity #neurodiversity #inclusionmatters #neurodiversityatwork #neurodiversityinclusion #hiring #thegreatroom

Hello Community! You may notice I deleted the majority of my posts today. They contained links to a website I am taking down (vividimpact.ca). The Vivid Impact project was heavily focused on evaluation, which I am slowly but surely evolving away from in my professional practice. My professional experience in the non-profit sector has shown me that most evaluation and evaluation-capacity-building projects do not end up, despite best intentions, directly benefiting the non-profit sector and the marginalized groups they serve - for a variety of practical reasons. Rather, non-profits and marginalized groups end up being used as a source of data to advance others' work. That's not to say evaluations are not important ("Cherish those who pursue knowledge...", Voltaire), but they are no longer the focus of my work, personally. I now focus on helping non-profits achieve the goals and priorities they set for themselves, based on their professional experiences working with marginalized groups. I have started a new (very bare-bones still) website using the domain name for my company www.durlaksar.ca. Please note that all the evaluation resources I have created over the years are still available, so if you need any of them just contact me.

Non-profit organizations: Don't add an entire blurb in a job description describing your organization as "anti-racist" if you have bachelor degree requirements for sub 100K roles in NYC. That's the literal opposite of diversity, equity, and inclusion in 2024.

Entrepreneur, Project Manager and Engineer with experience in Energy, Transport, Social Impact sectors!
Recently, a contact asked me about my resolutions for 2024. While I don't typically make resolutions, I've decided to embrace a motto instead. This year, my motto is "opening doors." In line with this, I'm excited to share that I'm focusing on collaborations in 2024 with Partnership In Employment, a non-profit initiative which I founded. Our Vision is a future where every Gambian engages in addressing our socio-economic issues, fostering a community of active participants for sustainable development. If you're interested in partnering with us to make a positive impact, please reach out! #NonProfit #Collaboration #PartnershipInEmployment"

The road to employment post-prison is undoubtedly challenging, marked by obstacles and societal preconceptions. However, it is also a path illuminated by the resilience and determination of individuals seeking a second chance. Each step taken represents a commitment to overcoming adversity and rebuilding a life. As a society, we have the opportunity to be architects of that second chance, providing the support, understanding, and opportunities necessary for individuals to reintegrate, contribute, and rewrite their narratives. Let's acknowledge the journey, celebrate the spirit of resilience, and collectively pave the way for a brighter future after incarceration. Promoting Social Justice Non-profit organizations are dedicated to advocating for social justice and standing up for marginalized and vulnerable populations. Through their tireless efforts, they work to promote equal opportunities, challenge discriminatory practices, and dismantle systemic barriers that perpetuate inequality. These organizations are a powerful force for change, and they play a critical role in building a more just and equitable society. By amplifying the voices of those who are often ignored or silenced, non-profits help to create a world where everyone has a fair chance to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.
