How’s this for an innovative approach to building new homes? In Kent, they’ve added modular homes to the roof of an existing apartment block - creating new living spaces without the need for more physical footprint (at least at ground level). https://lnkd.in/gSPCDXWq This is a great example of thinking a little bit differently and using new advances in construction to solve an age-old problem. It is the type of solution that councils and local government organisations across the country should be looking at to alleviate the homelessness problems that seem to be in the news every day. I’d love to see more of this kind of construction, particularly here in the North West. What are your thoughts? Transport for NSW has announced changes to make it easier for councils and communities to improve their local street environments and host neighbourhood events 🎉 KEY UPDATES: ✨An updated Temporary Delegation to councils has been issued that gives councils an alternative, streamlined approval pathway for works supportive of walking, cycling, and improvements to place amenity and road safety. ✨Pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, tree planting, placemaking improvements, and regulation of parking – among other things – can be implemented by councils without engaging a Local Traffic Committee or requiring referral to Transport (subject to some conditions). ✨ The Roads Regulation 2018 has been amended to simplify the process by which councils can grant road event permits for neighbourhood activities.
