A personal post. Today is European Donation Day. A day to remember that each of us, with huge help from science, is gifted the opportunity to help 9 lives after our death. Take a moment to think about that: up to 9 lives positively impacted, by the simple act of registering as a organ donor. As a family affected by transplantation, our story is a postive one, but I’m all too aware, our circumstances were rare (endlessly grateful to the NHS). Despite increíble advances in science, the statistics remain hugely variable across Europe and put bluntly, when it comes to organs, demand exceeds supply. This means millions of individuals and their families across Europe today are playing the waiting game, on a waiting list no one wants to be on. Organ donor registration takes a matter of minutes. Comprehensive list of European registries attached below. Spread the word.

This is almost an year back but one of my most important and gratifying instances. As a heart transplant recipient and speaking about my own transplant journey, giving awareness about the importance of Organ Donation and how being a donor can change the life of so many almost 7 peoples life. The idea of Organ donation has been prevalent all over the times but the whole idea and the knowledge of how and why is actually pretty less. This whole event is all about clarifying the misgivings and wrong ideas running around the concept of Organ donation. My talk had given a new perspective over the other side of organ transplant, we have heard so many things and testimonies from the donor family as well as the family of the recipient. But as a recipient, as someone who has received the life giving organ, has accepted the life giving act of someone, and telling how my life has changed, how my life turned 360 degree, a whole new chance at life. Gives everyone a direct connection with a person who has received the blessings. Let’s everyone understand the importance and feel the emotions and feelings. This opportunity has let me address a gathering of 100-150 people whom I hope to have touched and made aware of how the act Organ donation may help give a new lease of life to many other people. And here’s to hoping this post, gives awareness to the idea of organ donation as well organ transplant.♥️

Did you know that one organ donor can save up to eight lives? Despite this, thousands of people are still on waiting lists, hoping for a second chance at life. The need for organs far exceeds the supply. I first realised the importance of organ donation when a close friend needed a kidney transplant. The wait was long and stressful, but thankfully, a match was found. That experience showed me just how critical organ donation is. Here are some key facts: 📍One Donor, Multiple Lives Saved: One person can donate their heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, and intestines. 📍Thousands Waiting: Every day, 20 people die waiting for an organ transplant. 📍High Demand: In the US alone, more than 100,000 people are currently on the organ transplant waiting list. 📍You Can Make a Difference: By registering as an organ donor, you can potentially save multiple lives. Have you or someone you know been impacted by organ donation? Share your story in the comments! #organdonation #life #gratitude
