Thrilled to share CYPANs incredible journey of peacebuilding that spans across 56 countries, touching the lives of over 150,000 youth this year 🌐💙 At CYPAN, we believe in the transformative power of intersectional grassroots efforts, and our dedicated team of over 50 members has been tirelessly working towards fostering conscious community driven solutions to challenges on the ground 🌈🌍 🚀 Key Achievements: ✅ Global Reach: Our initiatives have spanned across 56 countries, creating a network of peacebuilders committed to making a positive impact worldwide. ✅ Empowered Youth: Over 150,000 youth and children have actively participated in our programs, becoming catalysts for change in their local communities. ✅ Intersectional Approach and Grassroots Engagement: Our work starts at the community level, ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard and respected in the pursuit of sustainable peace. Climate change, poverty, and inequality rob children of their rights—the right to live in a safe environment, the right to education, and the right to thrive. We must act NOW. We usually relate peace-building efforts to areas affected by conflict and war, exclusively. But the truth is we can be peace-builder everywhere as long as structural violence (and violence in all its forms) exists. The definition of positive peace distinguishes that peace is not just the absence of war but social justice, equality, and the wellbeing of communities. As Theirworld has highlighted, early childhood is where inequality begins. Focusing on the early years can stop the structural causes of violence in our communities. It’s in our hands to advocate so that our children have the right opportunities and resources to develop their fully potential. On this #WorldDayofSocialJustice2024, we find ourselves at a crossroads. On one hand, we yearn for a world with peace and free of conflict. On the other hand, disparities and injustice still plague our societies and threaten to pull us further apart. In advocating for peace, we must recognise that social justice is not just an idealistic dream but a practical path towards creating a more peaceful world. It is interconnected with pursuing fairness, equity, and harmony. Here's why: 1. Injustice Breeds Resentment: When individuals or groups are systematically denied their fundamental rights and opportunities, it leads to resentment. This resentment can grow into frustration, anger, and conflict. Social justice tackles these issues at their root, addressing discrimination, marginalisation, and unequal access to resources. By creating a system where everyone feels valued and empowered, we can remove the seeds of discontent that fuel discord. 2. Building Bridges, Not Walls: Justice goes beyond borders and identities.
