9% of hospitals had 'vulnerable' cash on hand levels in 2022: While 73% of nonprofit hospitals and health systems saw "strong" levels of cash on hand in 2022, 18% saw "adequate" levels, with 9% coming in at "vulnerable" or "highly vulnerable" with available cash on hand, according to a Jan. 9 KFF report. http://dlvr.it/T18gDf

More than 15 million children, low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities rely on Medi-Cal for their health coverage. That's nearly 40% of the state's population. But coverage alone does not ensure timely access to care, and an underfunded system means that these patients often wait months to see a doctor - even for critical issues like cancer. This issue is compounded by shortages in our workforce and by a system that does not reflect a steady commitment to the addressing the problem. Prop 35 will improve access to our most vulnerable, support a pipeline of health care professionals, and impose strict accountability so that resources meant for Medi-Cal will not be redirected to non-health care purposes. Please support this generational change to improve health care in the state for all.
