We were very pleased to see that the new Silvertown Tunnel is due to open 7 April 2025. 🌟 We’re proud to reflect on our journey contributing to this greatly needed congestion alleviation and area regeneration infrastructure programme, which will help to provide improved connectivity services for Londoners. Our team led the development of design principles for the architecture, landscape and urban integration aspects of the new tunnel and testing them with reference designs for its portals, tunnel linings and alignment with development opportunities for the surrounding areas – early but crucial steps in supporting the project on to Development Consent Order (DCO) approval - as a direct commission from Transport for London (TfL). Securing the initial DCO for the Silvertown Tunnel marked our second successful involvement in this consent process and followed our successful support on the Thames Tideway Tunnel DCO. A few short years later we are now working on our fifth major DCO project and continuing our commitment to shaping impactful infrastructure projects. Congratulations to the entire delivery team for bringing this ambitious vision to life. It’s exciting to see this project getting closer to completion and ready to transform London’s connectivity for the future. As we start the new year, we reflect on some standout projects from the past year that continue to shape our work in 2025. Kicking off with Parkhead Viaduct, a remarkable structure dating back to the 1880s, originally built to connect Dudley to the wider railway network. As part of the Midland Metro Alliance, Pell Frischmann has led the design and refurbishment of the scheme, strengthening the viaduct to support both future tram services and heavy rail operations. Hear from our Civil Structures and Rail Technical Director, Simon Hibbert, as he delves into the restoration process and the importance of preserving this historic landmark. #Construction #Railway #Rail #Dudley #ParkheadViaduct

If true, this is a good decision. Move on from that please and reinstate HS2 up to Manchester and beyond, and link it to an upgraded TransPennine line. How can U.K. consider itself to be a modern European country without a functioning high speed rail network.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves is poised to give the green light to the extension of the High Speed 2 (HS2) rail project up to London Euston and the development of the station itself Full story:

Great insight! Very keen to follow the discussion threads on this - especially how risks can be eliminated or transferred through technology
Today, I had the privilege of visiting the Centenary Bridge Upgrade Project in Jindalee, Queensland. This ambitious project includes constructing a new 3-lane northbound bridge, rehabilitating the existing bridges to 3 lanes southbound, and upgrading active transport facilities. With 85,000 vehicles crossing the bridge daily in 2023, it’s a vital transport link for Brisbane and an iconic piece of infrastructure. The original two-lane Centenary Bridge, which opened in 1964, was built during an era when construction safety practices were far less advanced than they are today. Throughout history, iconic bridge projects have faced significant safety challenges: 🌉 Brooklyn Bridge: 30 fatalities. 🌉 Sydney Harbour Bridge: 16 fatalities. 🌉 San Francisco Bay Bridge: 28 fatalities, which prompted the introduction of safety nets for future projects. 🌉 Golden Gate Bridge: 11 fatalities, including 10 in a single incident when a 5-tonne work platform broke. What are your thoughts on how construction safety has evolved over the years? What's working? What needs to change? Have you been inspired by specific projects or innovations? I’d love to hear your reflections. #SafetyInnovation

Commuters on the Mitchell Freeway will notice a big change in the coming months, with two new #bridges being constructed over the freeway as part of the Stephenson Avenue Extension and Stirling Bus Interchange projects. The project team will employ a unique #constructionmethod, which will see the bridges progressively built and “launched” from one side of the freeway to the other. The advanced construction technique, selected for its benefits in maintaining access to the Mitchell Freeway and train services, will showcase an innovative approach to #infrastructure development in #WesternAustralia. The technique uses casting beds, where #reinforcedconcrete bridge sections are poured and cured, before being “launched” into place over live traffic conditions. Permanent and temporary #piers have also been constructed on the freeway, with vehicles shifted onto a temporary alignment while the works take place. PHASE 3 (Long-term): • Ongoing and Future: - Continued development and refinement of the Brabazon community. - Ongoing maintenance and management of the development. - Potential for future phases and expansions based on market demand and evolving needs. KEY Considerations: > Phased Development: The project is designed with a phased approach to ensure sustainability and minimize disruption. > Transport Improvements: The timeline will be significantly influenced by the pace of transport infrastructure improvements, as outlined in the approved plans. > Market Conditions: Economic factors, such as interest rates, housing demand, and construction costs, will also impact the project's timeline. Estimated Overall Timeline — The entire Brabazon development is likely to take 15-20 years or more to fully complete. This is a long-term project with a focus on creating a sustainable and thriving community over the decades.

An example of where the Government can enable TfL to fast track extensions. The ‘easiest’ of all pipeline projects aiming to get ‘shovels in the ground’ before the end of this electoral cycle should be the goal.
The proposed Docklands Light Railway (DLR) from Beckton Riverside to Thamesmead extension will have its business case developed following a successful public consultation, Transport for London has said
