Here is an article I wrote on a tactical component of my framework I call Activating Retrospective Desire. Definition: re-framing an instinctive past tense desire into a present tense objective. Becoming a navigator instead of a passenger by utilizing that desire as a guide for future action. https://lnkd.in/gtymZfqc

SPACE vs. DORA, which metrics should you use? tl;dr - YES! SPACE is a framework for identifying the right metrics, but is not, itself, a set of metrics. DORA's research has validated four key measures of software delivery performance; these four keys are an implementation of SPACE. Dr. Nicole Forsgren has been at the forefront of both of these initiatives and explores their relationship in this presentation - https://lnkd.in/eyS2qzry #SPACE #DORA #Metrics #SoftwareEngineering #DeveloperProductivity #GBGB

🎯 This is a masterpiece by 👋 Vincent Warmerdam 🎨 Must watch for anybody trying to solve problems using data. Top Takeaways: 🔍 Challenge Assumptions: Preconceptions and standard methods can limit innovation. Questioning established ideas leads to new insights. 🔒 Don't be bound by familiarity; If you’re used to thinking of a problem in a certain way it can be a problem. Doubt fosters creative rethinking. ❓ Embracing Doubt: Doubt isn’t a setback; it's an advantage. Doubt challenges the status quo, enabling a more comprehensive exploration of solutions. 🔄 Rethinking Approaches for Real-World Translation: Rather than solely optimizing metrics, prioritize solving real-world problems. Understand that success in models doesn’t always guarantee real-world impact. Avoid the "optimality trap" of fixating on a single number. 🤔 Portraying yourself as an expert can cause you to double down and get tunnel vision and make it harder to be creative. 🎨 Grant yourself a blank canvas once in a while. Even when knee-deep in a particular approach, stay open to alternatives. Avoid being confined by a single way of thinking. My favorite line: "I prefer a future where you're always able to think for yourself and to come up with your own solutions instead of being limited to the tools some vendor gave you. There's way more than one way to think about a problem and it'd really be a shame if we ever forgot that and got stuck."
