🏃🏼♂️Activating Public Space Through Heritage-Led Regeneration Across Ireland, as in many cities in Europe, heritage buildings often sit on main streets and in strategic locations. However, many of these buildings remain derelict or empty, simply because the cost of acquisition and refurbishment often outweighs their post-renovation value. 📹 Morris Conway, Assistant Architect and THRIVE Project Manager at Waterford City & County Council explains how revitalising heritage buildings like 18 Lady Lane can create a positive ripple effect and breathe new life 🍃 into public spaces. The THRIVE scheme (Town Centre First Heritage Revival) supports the renovation and repurposing of 🇮🇪 Ireland’s vacant or derelict heritage buildings. By doing so, it enhances the surrounding areas, making them more appealing for living, working, and visiting. Most importantly, THRIVE aligns with the values and principles of the New European Bauhaus: promoting sustainability, inclusiveness, and beauty while acknowledging the most pressing needs of local communities. Hi! I am so interested in this project. I already wrote to Thrive to know more about the procedure of the project because we have a similar project in hands, i have no answer. Is there any contact or particular person whom I can talk with? Maybe Morris? Thank you New European Bauhaus
Rehabilitar espacios patrimoniales no basta. Por sí sola esta acción no revitaliza el entorno. Es preciso encontrar nuevas funciones para esos edificio que refuercen las comunidades locales.
