According to the most recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there were 153,620 traffic crashes due to winter conditions. 32,213 of those crashes caused injury, and 498 resulted in death. It is important to prepare yourself and your vehicle to stay safe in these conditions. Below are some things to keep in mind before driving in winter conditions, such as snow and ice. Before Driving in Winter Weather Conditions: • Lights – Check headlights, brake lights & turn signals • Windshield Wipers – Make sure wipers work and replace worn blades • Tires – Check tire pressure and fill tires if needed • Stock Up – Pack Essentials; Snow Brush, flashlight, first aid kit, blankets, etc. • Gas Up – Try to keep gas tank close to full whenever possible • Plan Route – Check weather and traffic reports before driving What To Do in an Emergency: • Stay with your vehicle • Don’t overexert yourself • Make your car seen with lights, bright colors, etc. • Run the vehicle sporadically (long enough to keep warm) • Be mindful of carbon monoxide poisoning • Don’t run your vehicle for long periods with windows up or in an enclosed space Resource: • https://lnkd.in/eDV2gK8 #Ironwood #Safety #WorkSafeWednesday #VegetationManagement #CivilConstruction
