Why do we work in Latin America? That's a question we hear often. The answer is simple: your support goes exponentially further in Latin America. Right now, around 80% of families in Mexico can't afford the average home in the market. The need for housing is critical and the resources are scarce. By focusing on this underserved region, we're not just building houses — we're transforming entire communities.

Yesterday, our CEO Brett Hagler made a bold commitment on the Clinton Global Initiative main stage focused on empowering women and girls. New Story pledges to unlock land and home ownership for 15,000 low-income families, including 36,000 women and girls. Our innovative approach: 1. Partner with municipalities to secure permitting for well-located land 2. Develop lots with essential services and payment plan for families to become landowners 3. Collaborate with financial institutions to offer home financing We're transforming unbanked beneficiaries into empowered homeowners with a clear path to asset accumulation. The problem is just so large that there's no way that one organization or a few organizations can... end it by ourselves because it's just so big. We surveyed families in Etzatlán, Mexico, and learned that housing options were out of reach for the average family. So we designed Casa NEXT, a solution that makes homeownership 20% more affordable.

We're thrilled to announce that Erica Campbell has joined New Story as our head of marketing & communications! Erica brings 15 years' experience in marketing, PR and corporate communications, and was most recently at Hines, a real estate investment manager with $93B AUM. Erica will evolve and amplify New Story's external presence to achieve our mission of bringing affordable land and housing solutions to those who need them most.

When the local government had an open call for applications to the Las Fuentes community in Etzatlán, Mexico, Miriam was excited to see that the payment program was more affordable compared to other programs. “Buying a home can be scary, and there usually isn’t a lot of support to do it. But the land program had support and it was easier to make monthly payments instead of larger payments.” Now that her family finished payments towards their own plot of land, Miriam is close to securing her dream two-story home, where they can operate a storefront on the first floor and live on the second floor.
