April is Autism and Neurodiversity Awareness and Acceptance Month, a time to celebrate the culture and diversity of Autistic and Neurodivergent communities and promote acceptance and understanding. Embracing autism and neurodiversity acceptance goes beyond acknowledging Autistic and Neurodivergent people. Acceptance is an action and starts with listening and respecting the rights and humanity of those living with autism and neurodivergent conditions. It means creating a culture that challenges the stereotypes and societal barriers that Autistic and Neurodivergent individuals face, building a culture of inclusion and understanding. We encourage you to learn more about how you can be an ally and what it means to embrace and practice acceptance. 👉 https://bit.ly/3U1Q8rY

Rather than focusing on changing people with autism to fit into societal norms of behavior and communication, the emphasis is on accepting and understanding them for who they are. Autism Acceptance Month serves as a reminder to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of individuals with ASD. By promoting acceptance, understanding, and support, we can create a more inclusive society. A great pace to start is with the book, "Untypical" by Pete Wharmby who writes about "How the world isn't built for autistic people and what we should all do about it" See how TYGES supports the autistic community >>> https://lnkd.in/evKE2wDP

TODAY, Tues, 8/13, at 3pm ET, join CASP's Profound Autism SIG and Adult Programs SIG for Changing the Behavior of Behavior Analysts and Other Professionals To Improve Outcomes in Autistic Adults. https://lnkd.in/gNx8khBq Despite emphasis on evidence-based care for adults with autism, adult outcomes often aren't where they should be. There are many potential causes, but clearly ABA's potential to support more positive adult outcomes hasn't been fully realized. In this webinar, Dr. Shanna Bahry and Dr. Peter Gerhardt will share recommended behavior changes for behavior analysts who work with autistic learners. Central to this is better understanding and applying the process by which meaningful skills can be identified and targeted for acquisition.
