Yesterday at ClimateHaven, we were honored to have U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal join CEO Justine Lee on stage to announce ClimateHaven's recent receipt of $1.5M in federal funding to expand clean energy entrepreneurship in Connecticut. Startup founders Nadia B. Ahmad of mudder.ai and Conor Rooney of Oxylus Energy gave compelling presentations about the technology they are able to accelerate due to funding supporting Climatehaven, and New Haven's Mayor Justin Elicker took the stage with us once again, one year after our ribbon cutting.
A little background: The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) announced that ClimateHaven will receive $1 million through the Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) Round 3. We will use this funding to provide wraparound services startups with sector-specific support in the field of green chemistry/engineering.
ClimateHaven has also recently received $500,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) for the buildout of our hub and prototyping space, allowing us to serve entrepreneurs at our downtown New Haven hub.
“ClimateHaven’s mission is to drive transformative solutions for clean air, clean water and energy resilience by accelerating the journey of early stage climate tech companies from lab to market. This funding, secured with the invaluable support of Senator Blumenthal, Senator Murphy, and Congresswoman DeLauro, underscores the importance of federal partnerships in scaling transformative climate technologies. It is a testament of their commitment to fostering innovation in Connecticut, and to accelerating the transition to a resilient, low-carbon future,” said Justine Lee at the conference.
